yeah, Long is our best bet. but do we throw Carimi back out there at RT?

I'd let Carimi, Webb and Scott fight it out. Hopefully the injury was the reason for Carimi's poor season and he bounces back next year.

Franchise LT's are obviously hard as hell to find. Yeah, I think Long is gone, but even hurt, I think Miami can trade him for relatively solid value.

He's a free agent.

would albert/long in free agency, warmack at 20 and barrett jones at 52 solve all of our problems?

Would help a lot. Even though the Bears easily need 3 starters on the OL, it's a little much for 1 offseason and not the best use of resources. IMO. If they could get Long and Warmack, I'd go LB, WR, or TE in the 2nd.

Don't think Warmack will last that long...

Yeah, I doubt it. After seeing Iupati dominate last night, it makes me want Warmack even more.

Also not sure Jones at 52 is happening.

Yeah, Warmack won't be there. The lack of top end OTs will make teams reach more for OGs. And he may not even be a reach as I think he's probably a top 5 talent in the draft, just doesn't play a real valuable position. I really like Jonathan Cooper though, who should be there, though I think 20 may be a little early for him.

If Barrett Jones is available for the Titans in the 2nd round and they don't take him, I may lose it. He's exactly what we need.

I was wondering if he'd be a massive overreach for the Bears in the first?

Definitely. If you want an OL with the Bears' first pick, you have to trade up or down.

After the shoving match with McCarron, you know the meatballs would love him in Chicago. Olin's rightful heir at center.

Eh, the shoving match really doesn't do much for me, but I do like that he supposedly can play multiple positions on the line. Also I'm really poorly informed on college players, and am going mostly on what I read rather than anything that's been seen.

I agree that it would be an overreach at 20th pick. My ideal situation would be Chiefs went with Luke Joeckel with the first pick and they want to move up to 20th (to draft whichever QB they like best). Bears would get their 2nd and 3rd round pick plus possibly a future 3rd? as Chiefs will be somewhat desperate to get a QB to pair with Joeckel in this situation. Then probably either Cooper or Jones (whoever they like more although I could see a project LT like Oday Aboushi rising up the board) with the early 2nd pick unless Eifert somehow falls out of the 1st. Not sure who I go with the later 2nd and 3rd round picks yet. Won't really know until after the Combine next month.

Also, if the Chiefs go with Joeckel at #1, that mean they let Brandon Albert go and I'd rather have Albert than Jake Long in free agency.

Oh I would too, but the question will be how much $$$ will it take to get Long/Albert/Clady (if all three make it to FA) and will Bears have enough cap space to do it? I get the feeling that Chiefs don't want to franchise or sign Albert as he will command too much $$ for their taste. It's the same way with Long for Dolphins. Clady probably will be franchised??, but Clady and Manning would be a HUGE chunk of their cap space and probably means Koppen is a FA.

Bears pretty much got to restructure/extend Peppers and Tillman for sure to free up some more cap space. They also have to resign Melton as well.

This has to be the year the cut Hester, right?

Olin used to start shoving matches. Jones wasn't exactly out of line there... McCarron was being a bitch.

Oh, I agree completely. I was never a big Olin fan.

Kiper has the Bears taking Eifert at 20. Jonathan Cooper goes 18 and Warmack goes 8 (!).

If Eifert could remotely be like Aaron Hernadez, that would be a great pick. Although after watching both the Rose Bowl and Alabama/Oregon game, Ertz looked the better of the two. I'm sure some of that had to do with schemes, scenarios, and Alabama being up by 800 points, but that's the .02 cents from my NFL scoutness.

he's not a reach if you want him, can't trade down, and he won't be there when you pick next.

I agree Ertz > Eifert.

Re: Warmack. He's a better prospect that Iupati who went 11 and this is a weak draft but you have to wonder how high a guard will truly go.

I'll say 8-10 overall.
