During a four-hour hearing on Wednesday, lawyers for the two rooftop businesses, Skybox and the Lakeview Baseball Club, reiterated their arguments that the Cubs’ plans violate both a 2004 revenue sharing agreement they signed with the rooftop owners, and federal anti-trust laws.

The anti-trust argument is so [expletive] laughably stupid lmao and even if they were ruled to have violated the revenue sharing agreement wouldn't that just mean monetary damages? What the hell are they asking for?

the cubs should buy ronnie woo woo season rooftop tickets

The judge would have no choice but to rule anti-trust violations then.

Lots of construction pics being posted on twitter right now as the media gets a tour. Jon Greenberg and Danny Ecker, specifically.

also noted that bleachers won't be ready for occupancy until May (LF/CF) or June (RF)

And several of the WSCR producers/reporters including Herb Lawrence and Adam Jahns are suggesting that the Cubs would be better off financially playing in the Cell for a year just because of 2 months of bleacher closings. LOL. Guess that's the type of business education you get from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting.

Adam Hoge was saying similar things. Ridiculousness. Jay Zawaski was at least telling them they were dumb.

Herb Lawrence is such a moron. I have to PTFB whenever they let him host.

I'd much rather the Cubs would have been willing and/or able to work out playing somewhere else for at least a year to help speed along this interminable process.

Digging up a 100 year old foundation, what could go wrong? Have these guys even ever watched HGTV? They sound like complete business and construction morons right now.

this is sort of funny given the jokes/rumors in the past about crane walking around in a full uniform or whatever

Wait, how would playing somewhere else speed up the process?

I thought plenty of us here talked in favor of that in the past? Just that we wished they could have worked out a deal to play at the Cell, or even up in Milwaukee (total longshot, but hey, it came up), so that major work could be done on Wrigley year-round for at least one year instead of mostly during the offseasons.

All of us would, but in no way would that be better financially which is probably why they didn't consider that more than one day most likely.

Huh? That seems like a huge assumption.

Maybe I would've been OK with that in a complete throwaway year like 2012 or 13, but henceforth? [expletive] no.

Because the construction would go much faster if you didn't have to stop it for half the year(the best time of year for construction).

That said, since the revenue generating stuff is going up first, the difference is largely personal preference. Would you rather they play for several years with the renovation in various stages of completeness, getting the full revenue from the new signage almost the entire time? Or would you rather play somewhere else for less time and have no games shortchanged in environment by construction, although in a completely different environment? I also have no idea how the revenue stuff would shake out in the latter option.

Nobody's talking about now; this was discussed years ago. Refresh your databanks.

Except years ago there was no approval to go ahead with the project. That was never an actual possibility. It could've gone about one year earlier had they decided not to try to play somewhat nice with the rooftops initially.

I guess the fact that you mentioned "and/or able" covers that, but that still doesn't change the fact that I highly doubt everyone here would've preferred that, which is more what I was taking issue with here.

Yeah...and I'm thinking this first phase was probably the most susceptible to season affecting delays because of the work into narrowing Waveland and Sheffield, landmark approval stuff, rooftop stuff, etc. and just the fact that it's the most substantial tear-down they're doing. The triangle work is going to be done year round (and I assume the hotel will be whenever that comes around). I think they should be OK with the other concourse/grandstand phases, relatively speaking.

I'm fine with the way they're doing it.
