Also, not sure why but the new light towers are no longer listed in phase one (or anywhere) here. I'm 90% sure they used to be on there.

Wonder why that is...hope they didn't have to drop those. They are needed.

I think they were too. My guess is they are changing things because they aren't going to get the construction done on time for opening day.

Yeah, but they weren't even moved to another phase. They are nowhere to be found and apparently weren't two weeks ago because a blog quoted that section in mid November and it wasn't in there, either.

I actually think it looks pretty unintrusive.

it's annoying me that the bloggers are tweeting that old picture out as the "before" when that has been outdated for like 6+ months.

New official renderings of the new sign/board locations

Don't take the sign over the big board to mean anything. Probably just because they didn't know if the partnership would be announced when the renderings were public.

The Chicago Cubs will appear before the Commission on Chicago Landmarks today to pitch yet another plan for Wrigley Field outfield signage.

The latest proposal, shown in the renderings above, strikes one script advertising sign approved for left center field, shrinks and moves farther south a new video board in right field and moves a video board in left field 30 feet west of its previously approved spot.

This has GOT to be about that Loukas/possibly Cubs owned rooftop building, right?

Posted
The original reasoning was that it was tax credits for being a National Historic Place or some such nonsense. 75 million I think, which would seem to be the primary reason for pulling a sign, but the Cubs-owned rooftop sure seems like it comes out ahead with the change so I'm sure it's a part of it.

i like the layout with the rf board all the way in the corner a lot less. hope it's for a very good reason.

I like it better than it being further into right center. But, the original design was the best.

The original one without the new RF board? Disagree.

No, the first iteration of this one--the previous one to this that we all were told was approved until yesterday.

There were some initial rumors yesterday that they were moving the video board closer to center (instead of closer to the foul line) and I didn't like that idea.

Oh...I hadn't seen that anywhere.

The rooftops' attorney is currently ranting in front of the Landmarks Commission about the Cubs. I hope all of it is true:

Danny Ecker @DannyEcker · 12m 12 minutes ago

Rooftop attorney Moore, whose clients are currently suing the panel, reiterates his stance that commission is violating landmark ordinance.

Danny Ecker @DannyEcker · 10m 10 minutes ago

Moore says Cubs prez Crane Kenney told rooftop owners after July meeting that he could now block their views and put them out of business

Danny Ecker @DannyEcker · 5m 5 minutes ago

Moore made some major allegations against the Cubs. Said they planned to block them and then buy their properties at "fire sale" prices.

signage changes were approved

Danny Ecker ‏@DannyEcker 12m12 minutes ago

Landmarks Commission votes in favor of changes. One dissenting vote was Comm. Mary Ann Smith, who wants the Cubs to disclose their revenue.

don't we all, mary ann smith? don't we all

One of the BCB flashes of brilliance that keep me checking in.

Yeah, their coverage (mostly the photos) of the project is the only thing that has motivated me to visit BCB in years. Probably because it isn't opinion or "analysis" written by that clown Yellon.
