Does anyone else look at the pictures posted online or drive by Wrigley and wonder how in the hell they are going to host a baseball game in 11 days? It looks like a gigantic mess, and not just the bleachers.

The triangle lot is going to be a mess for a long time. That was always the case and should have little impact on games. What else besides the bleachers are you referring to?

It is crazy to me, seeing where the video board is now, that they can have that thing up in 11 days, but I guess once they are done with the steel they can get the panels mounted pretty damn fast.

Ever watch a home renovation show? The place always looks awful till the the last hour or so.

Perfect parallel. No need to dissect it.

well, not sure that is a perfect parallel, since those are shows, and they always do a horrible job "fixing" those places.

I have gone through home and office renovations and while they last for months it does usually look like [expletive] within a week or two of being able to move back in.

I took it as him saying as they'll basically just cover up how fucked up it still is like those shows do.

I hope they do a big reveal to PTR where they roll away a massive screen with old Wrigley Field printed on it.

Nah...just meant that the "make it look good" portion of renovations are always the last things they do, and usually are pretty quickly done.

I'm sure it will be "cool", and quite possibly "hip".

i've never heard of him but people are rt'ing him and he claims to work for cbschicago

@wischlist

Rumor I'm hearing is MLB is now involved with Wrigley construction debacle and may have Cubs working with Sox on a wildly belated Plan B.

Seems a real possibility that the new video board won't be ready, but that wouldn't force them to relocate. The concourse must still be in shambles.

@wischlist

@LaurixJoe And from what I hear, the concourses and upper deck may not be safe for crowds by the 5th. We'll see.

that's what he's saying:

@wischlist

It's not the bleachers that's the issue at this point, Jeff. I'm hearing concourse & upper deck are still hard hat war zones.

Seems to me that MLB is moving to establish contingency plans to ensure that the ESPN telecast can go forward, just in case of an accident or some other unforeseen complication.

Nothing going on in the upper deck other than the ribbon boards and the video control room. Photos from the 3B side show a fresh pour of concrete and the framework for walls. They're very close.

Worst case can't be more than a matter of days - toilets and concessions aren't that hard to erect.

“Even a goat would tell you this reaches an absolute new low for Wrigley rumors,” Cubs spokesman Julian Green said Wednesday. “‎All is proceeding well and we look forward to Opening Night at Wrigley Field.”

Could we fire him for speaking that first sentence?

at best it's horribly illogical. a goat should not be the baseline for reasonable thought.
