i like kerry wood a lot, but i am surprised to see so many people saying they are thrilled to have him around since the team is bad and they need something to root for. is the presence of an old middle reliever really going to change how much you enjoy watching a bad team? are you really going to turn on csn for three hours and sit around hoping your favorite player happens to get in so you can see a strikeout, a walk, and two pop flies?

I'm treymon and I'm here to crap on everyone's cheerios.

Bring back treeman

No, but it's better than me flipping on a game for 10 minutes and seeing Wood come in as the closer for the Cardinals facing the Cubs and seeing a K, Pop out, Walk, and Tony Campana attempting to bunt for a hit and being thrown out at first to end the game.

Are you really going to turn on CSN for 3 hours, with an hour's worth of commercials, to watch a bunch of guys you don't know throw a ball around, and maybe, occasionally hit the ball over a fence? Is it really going to make your life better if a group of 25 guys you don't know, more times than not, beats another group of 25 guys you don't know at a game?

*sigh*...what's the point?

Damn. That's gonna happen all the time isn't it.

I got the over under set at 46 1/2.

I enjoyed the return but dont really care much this time. If he is still around when they start winning maybe I will appreciate it more.

Is this really that difficult of a concept? I like Kerry Wood. I like the Cubs. Therefore, I like having Kerry Wood on the Cubs.

Do you really care about this subject, or did you just drudge up something to pretend to care about because you were bored?

He's an old Cub. They signed him to a 1 year deal for a few million. Big deal.

Why the heck is Campana hitting instead pinch running for whoever walked?

Because he's the 4th OF and already in the starting lineup in place of Soriano/Byrd/Dejesus/Jackson/Johnson?

How long before Woody becomes the Cubs version of Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused?

"That's what I love about these rookies, man. I get older, they stay the same age."

I wonder how far we post dated Wood's contract for? We still haven't cut anyone from the 40 man, to add him yet.

I imagine the contract has just been agreed to and nobody has put a signature on it yet.

is that the 2nd guy they added to and then subsequently removed from the 40-man roster this winter?

Yeah, him and Bianchi. I wonder if Corpas cleared already or we may lose him still. Personally, I kind of figure he'll make our opening day pen, if he's around.

I doubt he's got much of a chance to make the opening day roster if he's being outrighted at the end of January.

Ahh, good point. Maybe Sonnanstine has the better shot? I just figure we'll have some sort of "veteran presence" hanging around, other than Wood and Marmol. On the other hand, having a pen full of Dolis, Beliveau, Carpenter, maybe Gaub or Mateo, could be fun to go along with Marmol, Wood, and Russell. In a kindasorta throw away season, you'd probably develop 2 of those guys into guys you think of as solid contributors for the future.

1-2 of Samardzija, Wells, or Volstad will likely also be in that bullpen.

Yeah, even if Garza's dealt, one of those guys is in the pen. I always forget about Wells, because I don't think he'll make the rotation. But, with his salary, if he does NOT make the rotation, he's pretty hard to trade at this point.
