Don Banks never ceases to disappoint in his completely inexplicable disregard for everything Chicago Bears. He lists his 25 remaining games that will have an impact on playoff races, and does not list the Bears at all. He lists four seperate Bengals games, but apparently there are no remaining Bears games that will have any impact on the playoffs.

That Bears/Lions game is completely meaningless.

Looking at the Bears schedule, that's really the only game I would think to put on that list. The Bears schedule after that is: 4 AFC teams, the Seahawks, the Packers and the Vikings. Were there any other week 10 games on that list? Maybe they thought it was too early to make that list.

There are 5 week 10 games on the list, including this week's Cincy-Pittsburgh game.

Chicago-Detroit is big and Chicago-Green Bay could be very good. Green Bay could still be fighting for #1 and Chicago should be fighting for a playoff spot. Two teams with winning records facing each other not in week 17, where most things are wrapped up, but week 16, where lots of things are still interesting.

He's got Eagles games on there twice. He's got Oakland/San Diego twice (plus another Oakland game). He's got GreenBay/Detroit and 4 Bengals games. There doesn't seem to be any rule that it has to be an absolutely vital game, it's just 25 games featuring every single team over .500 plus several .500 or lesser teams, with the lone exception of the Bears. The guy consistently disregards the Bears year in and year out. It's odd.

So, now the Falcons are the "team du jour" in the NFC? Eagles couldn't do it, so Falcons are the new team to come on late ala GB last year.

Falcons still get Saints twice. A Tampa team that has beaten them already this year. At a good Houston team. At Carolina, which is going to be a tough game late in the season.

Garza got signed to a 2-year extension. Don't really like this move, but it's not going to kill this team either way. Only 2.6 guaranteed and only worth 6.55 Mil if he stays until after 2013, which is unlikely. I was really hoping the youth movement would continue and the Bears would go after a C as early as the 1st round if Peter Konz (Gabe Carimi's old roommate at Wisconsin) comes out this year. Mike Brewster looks like a 2nd round pick now, that I would love just as much. But given that Garza is not likely to go back to OG (Williams, Spencer, and Louis are all better guards) and the Bears won't likely bring in a rookie early in the draft to sit for a year, I think the C need gets pushed back some. And with 2 young players at OG and OT, I'm thinking the Bears won't even go OL early at all....again.

Garza's been much better than Kreutz was last year. But he's probably been the least effective lineman on the team. He can be upgraded.

yeah, i don't think the bears will pick an o-lineman early for a while. i like williams at guard, he's great at pulling and smashing people on sweeps. louis just humiliated babin, who is as quick of a pass rusher as you'll find, and spencer seems serviceable at the other guard. also, barely even noticed webb last night.

that said, i think webb sits for carimi when he comes back. no way i take louis out.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Webb has done nothing of late to warrant a benching. Like others here have already said, they should keep it as it is until someone else gets hurt or starts playing awful. Carimi can wait.

Oh, for a win in this game. That would be [expletive] fantastic

I know seriously. I'm upset that we still have to play this game before we get to the soft underbelly of the AFC West. Every other team in the NFC North has gotten a chance to feast on them except us. (So odd that we get all 4 in a row like that)

Another must win, gosh, I don't feel as doomed as I did before the Eagles game which means I'm priming myself up for more disappointment, weeeeee

NFL scheduling is stupid. Bears play twice in 6 days after having 14 days between games. But they have to play a team coming off of 13 days off. That's really my only concern with this game outside of the Detroit pass rush. They are a fresh team that has been gameplanning for the Bears for a couple weeks. But I still think the Bears are a better team and teams actually havent' fared that well on the road after the bye week this year.

I wish they would do a better job of having teams coming off a bye facing each other but it's never been a priority for them. The worst is how they handle the Thursday night games.

When the Chargers play Thursday night, it will be their 3rd game in 11 days. Of course, they get extra rest before they come to Chicago the following week.

On a side note, I'm looking forward to Rivers/Cutler. As a neutral observer I never understood what Rivers' issues were with Cutler. Rivers bugged the crap out of me then with his insane whining. Obviously now that he's a Bear I'm even more supportive of Cutler.

I'm looking forward to it due more to the fact that Rivers is averaging almost two picks a game. Have at it DJ Moore.

Rivers really panics under pressure.

I watch all of the Chargers games. He's playing with very little confidence this year and even throwing more off of his back foot at times it isn't necessary. He was absolutely lighting it up with Vincent Jackson against the Packers weak secondary. His passes haven't really been as sharp as I've come to expect, though. Maybe he's playing with an injury he's worried about protecting. The Chiefs focused most of their defensive energy on shutting down Gates entirely and Flowers did an amazing job on Jackson, and it helped them win the game, although the Chargers lost that game moreso than the Chiefs actually won it.

Malcom Floyd and Ryan Matthews will likely be fully healthy for the Bears game, barring set backs tomorrow night.

My comment was definitely from limited viewing. Rivers played great against GB when they were down big and GB was playing prevent. But as soon as it got close, and GB started playing with some intensity, Rivers got all happy feet and "oh god, they're coming, I'm gonna chuck it out there."

i'm starting to like skip bayless a lot. he's the only one that ever advocates for the bears on the boo ya, besides ditka, obviously.

maybe it's just because he's contrarian, and he loves having trogolodytes like hugh douglas criticize him so he can retort and make himself look smart, but people seriously hate the bears. what did jay cutler ever do to them?

Exactly. Carimi is a rookie and has plenty of time to be awesome for the Bears. I'm so scared to tweak even one thing on the line when its doing well. In no way is it a shot against Carami, who I think will be great.

Bayless only like Cutler because they both went to Vanderbilt.

yeah, i knew that. which also means he probably watches cutler play and then generates opinions from there instead of formulating his usual lazy analysis, which seems to permeate the boo ya network, even and especially among the former players.

I wanted to strangle Mangini the other morning when he was arguing with Bayless that the primary reason Cutler takes so much abuse is because he holds the ball too long. I don't care for Skip, but I really hate Mangini. How can you be so smug while being so wrong?

Given Angelo's general disdain for drafting OL, along with the production/talent of 3 young guys (4 if you count Williams), I too can't see the Bears going OL early. With Louis, Carimi and Webb, tackle isn't a need but like you, I'd love to add an early G/C for depth and just because Garza is getting very old and Spencer isn't too young.

I really do like Konz and I'm sure Tice will be in Angelo's ear about him just like he was about Carimi.

i DO agree that he holds the ball a long time, but that's not a bad thing. i don't want a quarterback who picks a receiver before the ball is snapped and throws the ball before the play can develop. i want a guy who can buy some time for his receivers get open down the field, a brave quarterback that can take some abuse.

that said, it's ridiculous to say that he takes so much abuse because he holds the ball so long. some of the sacks are undoubtedly on him, but most of them are because of the line.
