Nice win guys. Illinois is an enigma that may never be solved.

Funny thing is they spent a big chunk of Boers and Bernstein today discussing Webber and the failings of Illinois basketball.

I've never seen a team play so awesomely defensively and so terrible offensively.

Every time Sam Maniscalco was on the floor, Illinois was completely useless offensively and he was the worst player from either team.

It shouldn't count if you can't score 45 [expletive] points.

Illinois could be a good/fun team if Fran McCaffery was allowed to coach them when they got possession of the ball and Weber coached them when the other team got it. Actually let's just combine teams and have that coaching setup. It would be almost all Illinois but Marble could be PG and Gatens, White and McCabe could have a role.

Same here, I thought Martin coached an awful game tonight. He made zero adjustments on Royce all night and we finally started making our threes. Chris Allen finally had a good game.

Well, two weeks ago Illinois was awesome offensively and beat Ohio State. Tonight, Illinois was awesome defensively and beat Michigan State.

Last week, though, they took tonight's offense and married it to the Ohio State game's defense to produce something somehow even uglier than tonight's game.

Bruce will be back. Beating two top ten teams and you're practically a lock for the tournament now.

Like when we did the same thing in 09-10? One on the road in Wisconsin, the other against MSU at home? Yeah that secured nothing. He's gone or the fan base will riot.

For a fan base that claims that Illinois is a "Basketball" school, Weber's record at Illinois just has not been very good. At the end of Self's era and the first couple of years of Weber, Illinois was bordering on becoming an elite program. Since, Weber's recruits have taken over they have become a borderline tournament team at best. Not nearly good enough for a basketball school. Weber needs to be fired, there should not even be a debate.

These are better wins, and we had 4 bad losses that year, compared to 1 (God, it better stay at that number) this year.

I think we get in this year, but I still think Webers gone.

Agreed, this team would have to get hotter than hell to save him, and we're not consistent enough to do it.

Unless they go crazy and finish top 4 in the Big Ten this year, I agree.

Ehh, I don't think they'd have to go crazy to finish top 4. 10-8 could do it, and holding serve at home while winning @ Nebraska would do that.

ETA: And a 2-1 record vs the likely top 2 would give us tiebreakers over anyone else.

I don't think 10-8 is going to be enough for Illinois to finish ahead of one of OSU, MSU, Wisconsin (who will own the tiebreaker with Illinois) or Michigan (who has a cake schedule).

EDIT: Basically, I'm thinking Illinois is going to need to be 12-6 for a top 4 finish, which would require winning two of @IU, @Michigan, @OSU, @Wisconsin.
