Cyrus Kouandjio is coming to town this weekend. I plan on showing him a good time, if you know what I mean.

any word on how this visit went? ...believe he is visiting AU this weekend. I still think he probably signs with Alabama since his brother plays there, but that's not a given at this point..

I haven't seen any real news on him, but Darian Cooper was in town with him and found this.

Cooper told Hawkeye Insider.com that he had “amazing time out there in Iowa City” and that he felt genuine love on his trip.

“Marcus (Coker) was our host so we all hung out together,” Cooper said. “It’s pretty cool with us all being from the same school.

“We just talked about what we like and what it’s like at Iowa. What it’s like to play football and what the life’s like.”

Cooper said he was in no rush to make a decision and that his three finalists — Iowa, Michigan State and Georgia Tech — were all even at this time.

He'd be a pretty good get too.

4 star TB Marlin Lane commits to Tennessee! Nice addition, now we need Richardson, Clear and Wright.

yep, Lane is a great pickup.

Well, KU has out together a reasonably strong class considering how bad we've been the last two years. We're up to 31 in the team rankings. That's partly because it's a large class, but we've added a ton of speed. Considering we looked like we were running in cement shoes, that's a good thing.

Highlights from the class include Darrian Miller (a rivals top 250 RB,) Anthony Pierson (another Rivals top 250 ath/RB), Brock Berglund (15th ranked dual threat QB and the only Q on the roster w/ big 12 talent), 6 OL, and a ton of speed, speed, speed.

Miller, Berglund, and Julius Green (6'7", 265lbs DE) are all on campus now, too. So they'll get a full semester in college to prepare.

Hopefully Gill and co can turn this class into players on the field.

I think Pierson is a big academic question mark, isn't he? I thought I read that both Iowa and Mizzou stopped recruiting him because they didn't think he would qualify. Something happened with Miller too where Iowa just stopped recruiting him after his visit and I think Wisconsin backed off also.

i haven't heard anything substantial about Pierson being a risk, but he might be. Mizzou did not stop recruiting him. He re-opened his recruitment because his coach told him he should be playing RB, and mizzou wanted him at DB. Mizzou still wanted him, but ultimately they decided to move in a different direction.

Iowa stopped recruiting Miller because he wasn't as good as the other guys Iowa wanted.

That's an awesome move for UCLA. Really surprising move for Shannon though. Raisin, do you think Shannon could take over the program in a couple years?

I'm really impressed with that Hoke has done recruiting-wise in the past week. We had 8 recruits a week ago and now we're sitting at 16 with another couple likely to come on board soon. Hoke has been working his ass off.

Hoke got Nate Davis to Ball Freaking State. He'll get you some talent.

The new is still not confirmed.

If not UCLA, he'll be a head coach somewhere in a few years.

Anti-oversigning sentiment seems to be a little stronger in the national media right now than in past years. Here's a good article from Andy Staples talking about oversigning and the SEC/JUCO farm system relationship.

He's one of the best DC's in the game but I am not sure he is meant to be a HC. But he deserves another chance. I thought he was going to Texas, but the rumors were he didn't mesh well with Brown and the defensive formations he wanted to put in place.

I think Auburn probably finishes with

1. Erique Florence

2. Gabe Wright or ?????

3. Brandon Fulse

4. Devante Sigler

5. Tre Mason or ??????

6. Ameer Abdullah

7. Marcus Roberson or ?????

Many of the Tennessee guys I've spoken with believe they are getting Wright. I heard he may have skipped a visit to UT this past weekend to attend the AU national championship celebration at Jordan Hare...? I believe he is visiting AU again this weekend.

I thought we had a good shot at Ray Drew and Isaiah Crowell, but I'm almost certain we get neither now. Cyrus Kouandjio is still a possibility I guess...but not very likely.

Roberson was very high on AU for a long time, and then he committed last week to Texas Tech (they hired his uncle). the next day he stated that his recruitment was still open. Roberson is making another visit to AU this weekend though, and I'm hopeful we still get him.

Tre Mason would be a good get if he qualifies, but I don't think he will. I'm just going by what is listed on Rivals, but he made an 800 or so on his SAT. If he does sign with AU, they'll likely have to send his butt to a junior college (see Nick Fairley). AU coaches really fumbled by not going after Lane or Buie harder, imo. Now they are likely going to have to settle for Abdullah and who knows who else if they want to take 2 more RBs. I still think Brent Calloway ends up as a LB and not a RB.

I'm not confident AU ends up with a top 5 recruiting class anymore...top 8 maybe.

According to @CFTalk, a press release from Iowa says that 12 football players are recovering after being hospitalized Monday, but names and conditions were withheld. Any speculation about what that's about?

There is a ridiculously nasty stomach virus making its rounds around here. Hopefully that's all it is.

No, he made his Tennessee visit the weekend before. He cancelled his Clemson visit for this weekend and attended the AU celebration but told the mods for UT's Rivals site that he was at home. From what many UT sites are reporting, the coaches believe Wright is a Vol, and on his official visit he told multiple other recruits and several current players that he is a Vol, regardless of what he might say or put out in the media. Safety recruit Pat Martin is great friends with Wright and has said that he's gonna be a Vol.

That said, I know that this kid loves to play the recruiting game, and I still expect him to be a Tiger. I'm glad y'all end up with Abdullah, too. UT fans were all excited about getting him, and after having seen him play in person around 6 times the past 2 years, I did not want to waste a scholarship on him. He's just not that good. Maybe he'll be fine as a DB, but if you're recruiting him as a RB, he is a wasted schollie.

As always, jmo.

My Rebs just got a commitment from the No.2 LB in the country and No.21 overall, C.J. Johnson. \:D/

Should have a top 15 recruiting class when all is said and done.

Rhabdomyolysis. That is crazy.

And it was just announced that the MWC will indeed move TCU's home game against Boise State to Boise State.

hmm, now what could cause a bunch of football players to have the same type of muscle damage?

Being Iowa, I am sticking with the cause being drug related.

Drugs of abuse,[10] including: ethanol,[11] methamphetamines,[12] cocaine,[13] heroin,[14] phencyclidine (PCP),[15] ketamine,[16] and MDMA (ecstasy)[17][18]

Apparently it's an overexertion thing. Stories coming out about how grueling workouts have been since they came back from break last week.

If it was steroids I don't think they would be putting out a press release and then leaking what the illness is.
