Chris Harris

"It's kind of a slap in the face. It's kind of an unwritten code for players to bash another player based on injury," Harris said. "It would be easy for me to say to Maurice Jones-Drew, 'You should have played the last two games of your season, even though you had an injury and your team was still fighting for a playoff spot.' I could say that, but I'm not going to do it."

Greg Olsen

"For guys, especially around the league to take those shots at him ... I just think it's ridiculous. You're going to take a shot at a quarterback who is leading his team into the NFC title game by guys who aren't even in the playoffs, haven't made the playoffs in their whole career, and they are going to question him. I just think it's ridiculous."

Really glad to see Cutlers teammates come out supporting him the way they have.

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but part of the hate that some Bear fans have towards Cutler is that he was called "questionable" to come back in the game after the injury. That almost made it seem like he could have gutted it out. Why did the Bears say that his status was questionable when the doctors/coaching staff told him they were taking him out? Jay wasn't getting back in because he couldn't plant and throw. Lovie and the doctors knew that.

yea, I mean the Bears front office has been historically fantastic when it comes to PR opportunities, how could they possibly screw this up????

the bears are just bad at this kind of thing, but hte hate for cutler is much much worse and more irresponsible

One of the very few times Lovie Smith has actually said something in a news conference. Everything he said is 100% spot on too.

Dan Bernstein said Lovie did a horrible job. He said that he should not have used the word sprained should have used "partial tear" so that some members of the media and idiotic fans would get off his butt. Sprained just sounds too soft because people don't know what it really means.

Most teams do that. Like I said earlier in the thread, Maurkice Pouncey was carted off the field with a clear leg injury, remained in the locker room, came back out on crutches hobbling around and his return was "questionable."

I don't know why teams do it, but most of the time I've seen them as questionable – even with concussions where it's obvious the player's done for the day.

So on ESPN there's a vote for who is more unlikeable: Jay Cutler, Michael Vick, or Ben Roethlisberger. Take a wild guess at who's winning. If you guessed the rapist or the dog killer, you lose!

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?sportIndex=pollindex&pollId=105753

LOL please tell me there are only like 7 votes.

33,217 votes

And Cutler has 45% of the vote, 11% ahead of Vick.

ESPN is to blame for most of that. They have said time and time again (Berman even said it yesterday) that Roethlisberger "overcame adversity" this season. They've said how Vick has done an outstanding job with his second chance and how he should be in the MVP race.

As for Cutler? Rick Reilly writes a [expletive] article about him and most of the personalities just tear him apart for "not caring about the game."

Somehow a rapist and a felon are more likable than a guy who's been clean all throughout his life. There's something wrong with that.

That's what I said earlier in the thread. I'd say 75% of the time when an injury occurs, the sideline report says that the player's return is questionable, no matter the severity of the injury.

I really think the hate for Cutler comes from the fact that some people decided they didn't like him long ago. Now, whenever an opportunity arises, they're going to jump all over it as proof that they were right all along.

There's really no way Cutler can win with such people. They just wait in the wings for the next chance to pounce.

It's not in the least bit unusual for a team to say a player is questionable when an injury is being evaluated on the sidelines.

It wouldnt have mattered what word Lovie used. Unless Cutler has surgery the idiots are going to say hes a [expletive] and he should have played.

Not to imply legitimacy to this media craziness, but I'm curious to see how Cutler will respond to it next season.

It is your job as an organization and as a coach to do everything you can to let people know the kind of injury he had. It was a very important news conference.

I love Chris Harris now.

The last comment(by Florio) is stupidly put in, but the rest is dead on.

Chris Harris has been taking on meatheads all season long on twitter.

really? he's been taking on dumb jocks in tight shirts with tribal tattoos?

i believe the term you're looking for is meatball. it's not fashionable anymore to confuse the two.

Bears center Olin Kreutz was not surprised, and he said he could see Cutler's leg shaking during a huddle in the second quarter.

'I didn't even think he was going to finish the half," Kreutz said. "When he came back to try it again, that amazed me. It was shaking right after he took the hit and walked back in the huddle. It was swinging like this [waving his hand back and forth].

"So I knew one of his ligaments probably went. I can't remember exactly what play it was. I know it was the second quarter. I remember him walking in the huddle, and I saw it shaking like this. I said, 'Ah, man.'"

I'm pretty sure many nfl players would qualify as meathead, LoPan

But is is absolutely questionable not to tell Fox that he is out when they know he is out. The Bears just screwed up a whole bunch of little things that can turn into a big thing.

Thats not their job at all. It really is none of the peoples business what kind of injury he had. It was a meaningless news conference.

I hope he doenst speak to another national media member. I'd tell them all to [expletive] off

Then you don't understand PR because what is mostly what Lovie did today. And right now PR is huge because ESPN, newspapers, and every sports talk show in the U.S. is hating on Cutler.

And then you dont know the [expletive] idiots in the media and the dumbass Bears fans. It wouldnt have mattered what Lovie said unless he said Jay was having surgery today. Plain and simple

Practically no team does that though. I don't know why, but the Bears aren't out of the ordinary at all in labeling an in-game injury as "questionable" return. It happened with Pouncey earlier yesterday and it happens consistently with players with concussions.

yes, but the statement was made that he's been taking these people on all season long and he wasn't talking about players. simply fans that think "ditka should coach the cubs".
