I still can't believe this team lost at home to the Seahawks and Redskins in consecutive weeks, or that challenging a fumble would have made the difference in one of them.

If that lack of a challenge costs us a playoff spot, it should still cost Lovie his job, even if we go 11-5 and don't make it.

I have no way of proving this, but I don't think this team goes on to win 5 in a row if they don't lose that Washington game. That was the game where the result forced us to put more emphasis on the run game, and seemed to be a general wake-up call for the team. Plus who knows how the rest of that game would have played out had Lovie challenged that call. The Seahawks game we were outplayed.

Plus, we shouldn't be complaining about potential wins that slipped away. We stole a win on a rule technicality against Detroit at home, got a gift from the Packers in the form of a million penalties, and scored at the end of road games in Buffalo and Detroit to take wins there. Not to mention the continual injuries to players of the opposing team. We've had our share of good luck.

The good thing is that the Giants play Philly and GB coming up. So, AT LEAST one of the three 8-4 teams have at least 1 more loss coming. If Giants lose both, Bears are likely going to get in either way. If the Giants win both, the Bears are likely going to get in. If the Giants go 1-1, the Bears are also in good shape because they beat both Philly and GB.

I agree we benefit from having the Giants play 2 teams we're battling with. If they go 1-1 and we go 1-1 we're still up a game with 2 other games to go.

If the Bears go 2-2, those 2 better be over Minnesota and Green Bay.

Bears didn't score at end of lions game. They got lucky first time vs Detroit but outplayed them. And the Washington non challenge remains inexcusable.

Read clearer. He;s talking about today, which is still debateable.

yeah, i can live with the seahwaks, they beat us. but that redskins game really hurts, we should have won easily.

however, the packers racked up penalties trying to stop peppers, that wasn't unlucky for them, it was what they had to do to keep rodgers upright.

The point remains that the Bears lose in Week 1 if not for that rule technicality. As for today, when you're losing for the first 75% of the 2nd half and then take the lead, to me that counts as scoring at the end of the game. It wasn't the very end, but Detroit played well enough to win.

the bears dominated the game and then got lucky at the end. the lions were more lucky to even have a chance to win.

any way you slice the "what if" game, the bears come out ahead in week 1.

And yet bears were in control except for last 60 seconds of first half.

Well yeah, they'd win the NFC North. Possibly would earn a 2 seed, too.

How? Detroit scored first. I don't have to look at a copy of the play-by-play to know that the Lions had the lead in that game longer than Chicago.

What if there was no bogus possession rule for catching a TD?

there are more what ifs that would come down in the bears favor, is what i'm saying. the bears desrved to win, but got lucky, too.

There was still time left on the clock even if Johnson would have had a TD. The Bears do have Devin Hester.

The Bears have had some breaks and lost some. Their record is exactly constitutive of who they are and who they have played. Every team's is.

Just like Washington had a ton of time remaining, thus the game is still not over if Lovie challenges that call and wins the challenge. But I agree with your second statement, and that's the point I'm trying to make.

The "what if" game is almost always a two-sided coin. You can't talk about games we should have won without considering the games that we should have lost. And there ARE games we should have lost.

The bashing of Lovie and calling for his firing is ridiculous. It was a bad decision, it happens. Yet the good calls he makes go mostly unnoticed. Btw, we shouldn't have needed that goal-line challenge to win the Washington game anyway. We had plenty of chances after it.

Lucky win. Need 2 more this year to make playoffs. Hope jets beat up brady tonight. That passing game is going to dismantle bears defense.

I'm willing to concede that the Lions are better than their record, based on the fact that it isn't only the Bears who have been surprised by them -- at least for a little while.

But yeah, we played terrible 2 times against this team. It's very disappointing. I'd also have to concede that this Bears team remains vulnerable to being beat by anyone, certainly any of the remaining opponents on the schedule.

It's just really hard to believe in a club that lets its QB get plastered so regularly and lets Drew [expletive] Stanton drive the field like that.

The offense was strong today. This team might be about the D, but today the O bailed them out, at least for the first half.

I hope Pisa is back next week.

I think today was a let down game coming off the huge win against Philly. They played like crap against Seattle after winning several in a row. Fortunately, they were just good enough (or Detroit was bad enough) for them to pull it out.

It will be exceptionally annoying if they do manage to go 11-5 and don't get in, which I think is pretty unlikely to happen. Too many different things will happen between now and when the season ends.
