I love that where College Gameday is going has turned into a ridiculous debate like this. Does it really matter?

Not really, but any national exposure like that to potential recruits watching at home is good for a program.

No, when they'll be watching an NFL game

This is why you don't let fans vote for things.. First four are understandable, and then, it just goes downhill at 5.

I was expecting to see Mack Brown or Urban Meyer.

I believe ISU fans are making a somewhat organized effort to vote for Rhoads, because they really, really don't want Chizik to win.

yep, Auburn is on the receiving end of a lot of negative emotion on the behalf of other programs' fans presently.

Here is an article that provides some information on the FBI interviews that took place yesterday. None of the interviews took place in Auburn or with Auburn personnel, btw.

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/11/fbi_ncaa_look_at_mississippi_s.html

The article does state that Cecil Newton did not accompany his son on any of his recruiting trips to AU as he did for the Mississippi State recruiting trips. I haven't seen any reputable allegations that Auburn did pay Cam for his LOI, and this statement isn't evidence that a transaction didn't take place. However, I think it's a positive sign for AU fans.

If you say so. I think y'all and MS State are screwed.

If you think AU is going to be 'screwed', then you must believe that evidence will surface that they paid for Newton's LOI. That's the scenario in which AU would be 'screwed', and there is no credible basis for that type of allegation right now. If AU didn't pay Cam for his LOI, then the worse case scenario (based upon what we know now) is a potential eligiblity issue in which Cam would retroactively be ruled ineligible based upon his father's dealings with MSU, not AU. Frankly, there doesn't seem to be an NCAA bylaw this is going to nail Cam for even this based upon information that is known currently.

I can only deal with what we know...new information down the road could throw a wrench into my positive thinking.

If Auburn is going down in flames, this is the beginning of the end. TMZ is reporting that the FBI now wants to speak with Milton McGregor about the Cam Newton investigation. Milton could be called an Auburn booster I guess as he has contributed money to the university previously.

Milton owns a dog track and Victoryland, a psuedo-casino (casinos aren't legal in Alabama) that operated as a bingo machine type establishment. He was arrested last month for trying to buy votes in the legislature for pro-gambling legislation. If the FBI were already wiretapping Milton for the gambling investigation, and they overheard something about a potential payment to Newton, I would think this information would have already been released...so this sounds like a fishing expedition. don't know...but reading his name made me cringe.

Wouldn't it be more like the middle of the end?

Many would view it that way. This is the first article that mentions an Auburn booster. The McGregor guy is a white collar thug...Auburn fans should be very nervous hearing his name, the FBI, and the Newton investigation in the same breathe.

At least I have a new team, and player, to dislike for the rest of the season.

Bring back RedFlash. I'm a big Alabama fan next week.

There is nothing in the article that indicates McGregor paid or offerred to pay Newton...dislike Auburn all you'd like though. yeah, I'd love to hear Redflash's take on all this...

McGregor denies any involvement:

Milton McGregor's attorney tells TMZ his client has "never had any contact – direct or indirect – with Cam Newton, Cecil Newton, Cam’s father; Kenny Rogers or anyone purporting to represent Cam Newton." He also says McGregor has never compensated student athletes at Auburn or any other school.

Bill Bell, a Mississippi State booster and former player at the school, told the NCAA he received a text message from a man claiming to represent Cam Newton's father that outlined a payment plan designed to bring the quarterback to the Bulldogs.

Bell said former teammate Kenny Rogers told him Cecil Newton wanted money for his son to play at Mississippi State.

Newton

Bell told ESPN.com he also shared a series of voice mail messages from Rogers with the NCAA last week. Bell said Cecil Newton never specifically asked him for money, but that Newton was present during three-way calls in which Rogers discussed a pay-for-play scheme.

Bell said he told the NCAA that Rogers sent him a text message outlining a payment schedule. Bell said the text included a request for $80,000 the day after Cam Newton signed with Mississippi State, $50,000 30 days after that and another $50,000 30 days later.

"When he asked for it, it was like 'Bam!'" Bell said. "He told me this kid's dad is going to want money and the next day he sent me a text message. He didn't say anything other than 'This is what I want and I want it in three installments.'"

Bell said he kept Rogers' text message on his old cell phone, which was damaged by water, but he is currently trying to retrieve the text message through his cell service provider.

Bell also said he has recordings of several voice mail messages from Rogers, which he played for NCAA investigators.

"[Cecil Newton] didn't come out and say, 'I want $180,000,'" Bell said. "He inferred it and talked about it, but not directly. Kenny would talk about it in front of him, and [Cecil Newton] never corrected him or said, 'No, that's not what we're doing.'"

Bell said the initial contact to him was made by Rogers, who played football with Bell in college. But Bell, a Florida businessman, said he also had several conversations with Cecil Newton during his son's recruitment.

Fox will broadcast the Big Ten championship game from 2011 through 2016.

Not sure of ESPN's other championship game commitments, but Fox does own 49% of the Big Ten Network.

This is terrible. They had years to improve on their product when they had multiple BCS games and couldn't do it. I'm sure it will be a great production after they have 0 games all year. Plus it will get very little lead up and promotion by ESPN.

It would be better if they just let the BTN produce the whole thing but air it on Fox.
