Beating South Carolina would be pretty huge for the program right now, but it's still going to be dependent on them playing poorly. They've been mediocre for the past three weeks now, so hopefully they'll stay that way Saturday so that we have a shot at the win.

If not, we'll have to sweep November (Ole Miss, Memphis, Vandy, Kentucky) to make a bowl game. We can win all four of those games, but we're not likely to win them all.

think the program directors at ESPN regret having a PSU/UM prime time game this week?

maybe not, since both schools have huge fan bases, but not exactly a game with any sort of conference/national implications

How about Ohio State-Minnesota?

at least OSU is ranked

the spread on the psu-michigan game is michigan getting 1.5 points. i'd sure as hell rather watch a game between two also-rans than a team that is contending for a conference title and will win by 40 points.

Joe Schad tweeted that Robert Bolden might be out this weekend against Michigan. That would be helpful for Michigan if he is.

Well this is just awesome:

Deadspin.com[/url]"]During a press conference today, Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley took a spin towards crazytown, comparing his team's miscommunication woes to the Nazis' prior to the Allies' landing at Normandy. This won't be hilariously recontextualized by a rival at all.

.........

"Right now we're like the Germans in World War II. Here comes the boats, they're coming. You have the binoculars, and it's like, 'Oh, my God, the invasion is coming.' That's what they did, they were in the bunkers. It's coming, they call Rommel — they can't find Rommel. (Pretending to speak into a radio.) 'What do we do? I'm not doing anything until I get orders.' (Pretends to look through binoculars.) 'Have you gotten Rommel yet?'

"I don't want the German people to get upset at me. I'm not attacking them, but that's what happened. You had one group, they weren't worried about what the plan was and orders and all that. When the war hits, things change. You've got to go. You had the other group, and they go, 'Wait a minute. They told us the invasion was way further north' where we had the empty tanks and we were hidding Patton out. 'We weren't ready for this, now what do we do?' 'We better wait until Rommel tells us what to do.'

pretending to speak into a radio....Pretends to look through Binoculars. I think I am going to be disappointed about seeing the video, because these two statements are just hilarious

Random Dooley story. A couple of years ago, Louisiana Tech played NIU in the Independence Bowl. We ended up staying in the Hilton down there, which is where the La Tech team stayed at. On the morning of the game, we went downstairs to get breakfast and all of the Tech coaches, including Dooley, were saying how much of a cakewalk NIU would be because of the "midwestern speed" they possessed as well as playing in the MAC.

It was pretty funny to hear just because you don't really see what coaches really think when they're off camera. The game ended up being a pretty competitive one, and NIU probably would've wound up winning if they knew how to cover a kick return.

All that said, I think Dooley's a little out of his league right now. Comments like the ones he made today aren't going to help that either.

That is some great stuff. The funny thing is I think he had a point about players being so scared to mess up that they freeze sometimes at key situations. He however went into that German analogy that was just great.

I think my hatred of the SEC is justified when Mississippi State is ranked 23rd. Somewhere (probably at GRB) someone is making the argument that they are probably as good as the best team in the Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-10.

Wins over Georgia, Florida and Houston. Their losses have come @ LSU by 22 and vs current #1 in the BCS Auburn by 3.

Not a great resume, but I don't think it's a travesty to have them barely in it.
