But when will they make a bowl game that they'll accept a bid to?

Ah, we're still on the 'you should be forced to accept a bowl bid without a head coach or offensive coordinator and with your two best players already polishing up their NFL resumes whether it makes any sense whatsoever to do so' kick.

If anyone's read the book "Death to the BCS" it should be blatantly obvious why accepting a minor bowl bid at 6-6 is stupid for anyone, especially so without a coach.

Those extra practices are invaluable to younger players. Maybe that's why you suck this season.

RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

It's more fun to say that than "but when will Notre Dame win more than 6 games again"?

extra practices with no HC, no OC, and 2 DCs whose systems could not be more different (oh, and I believe the WR coach/recruiting coordinator took a HC job at another school in December as well). those are somehow helpful?

if only there was an unlimited amount of practice time in cfb.

If only Michigan would make bowl games then they wouldn't need the "extra practice time"

How has no one talked about Mark Dantonio trying to out-sleaze Urban Meyer? Spend 8 days in jail, get out in the morning, practice in the afternoon. Oh and leave it up to the kid to decide whether he plays or not. Great move.

My real problem is he tries to come off as this "molder of men, high character, disciplinarian, blah blah blah" just like Tressel, but he's a phony.

Didn't we just make a big deal about ND's schedule the next two years? If they can't beat Navy, how are they going to compete with some legitimate teams in the next few seasons?

by improving?

in 2007, Nick Saban in his first year at Alabama lost to Louisiana Monroe. You're trying to tell me that they were the best team in CFB just 2 years later? You must be smoking something.

Not sure why anyone is surprised. That's their track record. Hell, they have a worse Graduation Success Rate (55%) than all but 2 SEC teams.

In hopes of overshadowing the criticism, Michigan State just announced that they signed a 3 game series with Boise State. They're at Michigan State in 2012, at Boise State in 2022, and back at Michigan State in 2023. Having the last 2 dates pushed out so far makes it safer for Michigan State.

Not to play negative nancy, but Nick Saban already had a national championship on his resume by the time that loss happened and it was completely reasonable to assume he was going to quickly get Bama into contention. Brian Kelly's greatest accomplishment so far is going 12-0 in the Big East, which might as well be the MWC at this point.

stop talking about notre dame. they're terrible and irrelevant. we might as well be talking about colorado or something.

The discussion originated with a kid losing his life, but I appreciate the concern.

Speaking of the almighty Buffs, what are their chances in Norman on Saturday?

no one is saying Kelly has to or will win a title in 2 years.

True. This is fairly unprecedented though. The guy spent 8 days in jail and was practicing on the very afternoon he was released. I haven't heard of something similar in even the most rogue programs.

Mostly I hate how Dantonio gets this reputation as being such a classy guy who does things the right way. He always gets compared to Ferentz. I knew they had the worst grad rate in the league but didn't know they ranked that low compared to the SEC. Damn I hope we beat them tomorrow.

You have a short memory. Dantonio reinstated Glenn Winston the same day he was released from jail last year after he served four months in jail over the summer following his assault on the MSU hockey player. Winston went on to make Dantonio proud by beating the crap out of more Michigan State students at the end of the season.

The bottom line is that he's only held accountable for wins and losses. As long as they keep winning, nobody there is going to care.

The grad rates are still rather depressing. Michigan State at 55% and Minnesota at 56% have lower graduation rates than every SEC time except Tennessee (53%) and Arkansas (55%).

Still, I'd rather have MSU win out and keep the Big Ten's odds of 2 BCS teams at its highest.

Zero tolerance means exactly that. We have no tolerance for Chris L. Rucker's actions.

Alrighty then...

I'm not the one comparing Nick Saban to Brian Kelly, so I think I'm clean.

We won't tolerate them. He's not on the team while he's in jail. But the second he gets out...

Good call Jon, completely forgot about Winston. Between that, the fights last year and now Rucker, he's still skating nationally. Other coaches have gotten roasted for far less.
