I'm sure Texas Tech fans are loving the start of the Tubberville era. He went for it on 4th down from his own 35 yard line with 11 min left in the 4th and up by 15. SMU scored shortly after and now are down by 8 with 7 min left.

ESPN just took a full media timeout after a 4th down stop when all Texas Tech had to do was take 3 knees to run out the clock.

according to my friend, mark may said that no non-bcs school should ever play for a national championship. once again proving that mark may is a huge douchebag.

I wouldn't say never but in most years I agree.

in most years everyone agrees, but there are years when LSU has two losses and plays for a championship, or utah runs the table and looks great while doing so, or boise state topples national power oklahoma. so why don't these teams deserve a shot?

It's even worse because when teams like Boise try to schedule powerhouses from BCS schools in their nonconference schedules, 99% of the teams [expletive] out. And because those teams, no matter how good they are, never get a fair chance at a national title, they're automatically handicapped in recruiting. It's ridiculous. I hate the BCS so much.

Well it's not exactly like that. Boise wants teams who want to schedule a true home and home with them. That doesn't make sense for any top 10-15 program. Nebraska offered a 2 (in Lincoln) for 1 (in Boise) series with them and Boise doesn't want any part of it.

Yeah, and since Boise is on the outside looking in, I think they need to make the extra effort to play some of these teams. It's on them to prove they belong.

It's Samford.

yeah no kidding, it's not like bowden was having trouble blowing out bad i-aa teams.

You serious, Clark?

We WERE having problems with FCS teams, almost getting beat by Jax. St. last year and haven't covered the spread of more than 10 points against an unranked team in 3-4 years. This is the first time in a LONG TIME that we've been able to beat a team convincingly that we were supposed to beat that badly. It's one of the first times we've been able to get our 1st teamers off the field at the end of the first half and develop some depth.

yes eddie, i am serious. jacksonville state is not a bad i-aa team - you may have noticed that they beat a i-a team yesterday. and if by LONG TIME you mean less than two years, then you're completely right, because this happened in 2008:

Sat, Sep 6 Western Carolina W 69-0

Sat, Sep 13 Chattanooga W 46-7

those are bad i-aa teams. who bobby bowden-coached teams beat just two years ago. so i would hold off on pronouncements of "we're back baby!" until after you beat a team that's better than sanford.

Forgot about W. Carolina, but we didn't cover against Chattanooga. Not to mention we only scored 9 ponts in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, and 7 in the 4th. Hradly a convincing win. And no where did I pronounce that "we're back, baby!" but rather that we're moving in the right direction.

well unless they can convince someone to do a home and home, they're going to have to. sucks, and it's probably unfair, but that's the way it is.

Recently they've just been asking for a single game with no return date and have been getting turned down.

Recently? The Nebraska thing was just this past spring.

You're saying they've been asking for 1 game at someone else's place with no return trip to Boise? Do you have a link for that? Not saying you're wrong, but I haven't seen anything like that anywhere.

Exactly. Pat Hill and Fresno wanted respect so they would basically play anyone, anywhere with no return game. Now it hasn't worked out for them but they were never quite on Boise's recent level.

If Boise wants to be in the discussion, they need to play a legit team on the road every year given their cakewalk in the last 8 weeks.

lol mississippi could have destroyed whatever d2 school they were playing, but they didn't because they wanted to be nice. i mean, sure in the end, the LOST, but i mean they could have won by like a million if they wanted to.

I think they need 2 legit games. If they can play 2 BCS auto-bid teams on the road and maybe one at home (not all have to be top 25, just quality schools), that adds credibility to their program. They can't be like some of the auto-bid teams that schedule 1 quality OOC opponent and 3 patsies b/c their entire conference is full of patsies.

wow, that fool got what I was trying to say perfectly.

That is precisely what happens when you take your foot off the gas. Nutt is like best friends with that Jax coach. We put up almost 400 yards and 31 points in the first half on them then we start running vanilla garbage and all of the sudden they are back in the game

bitching about running crappy draw plays for an entire quarter (instead of running the schemes that got you 31 points in the previous half) and therefore scoring no points and letting the other team get back in a game = we could have scored a million points on them.

Nutt is one of those old school guys like Tommy Tuberville that just get weak and uber-conservative when they have huge leads. Hopefully he'll change after this.

I think Boise St is also in a tough position. They have reached the level that if they go undefeated they will go to a BCS bowl game and get all that money. If they lose one game they will probably not go to a BCS game. Yet they need to play better competition to make the Championship game, which at this point will only happen if they play these games on the road. I dont think just sucking it up and playing 3 tough ooc games on the road is that great of an idea for them.

That should change a little bit next year when they're in a better conference.

Early lines of interest:

OU -9 FSU

ND -4 Michigan

OSU -10 Miami

Oregon -13 Tennessee

Alabama -12 Penn St

LOL we're giving 9 points to FSU? After just beating Utah State by 7? I know where my money is going.

What on earth is going on with ESPN? Yesterday they went to commercial right before 3 knees to end a game. Now they go to commercial right before a sneak is needed to end a game.

I'd be upset too if I coached a game like the one he just did.
