Jesus. He's on vacation. So what? Even the President takes vacations.

I'm pretty sure that's all GWB did. That and lie about WMD's.

This golfing and basketball thing is catching up to Obummer too. That and dig our country into an abyss of obscene debt levels all while promising transparency yet allowing back room deals w/ politicians and lobbyists for healthcare reform. Talk about a lie.

But lets get back to the topic please...thanks.

Bruce's blog highlights:

Gorzelanny to the rotation, Z to the bullpen when he comes back

Organization was not happy to have to send Stevens down

They could have a sitdown meeting regarding Z between ownership and baseball management next week.

Team meeting today

Bush not happy about Z having dinner with Guillen last night

There's a lot of good info in the blog:

Back to the pen, huh? Further proof that this organization doesn't know what in holy hell it's doing. Randy Wells should go to Iowa in favor of Gorzelanny.

They're mad at Zambrano for having dinner with Ozzie last night? Sure the timing was bad but are they really going to get on him for that?

You can be upset at Z for a lot of things. Eating dinner with Ozzie Guillen isn't one of them.

He was supposed to go to church and light candles and pray for forgiveness for his transgressions.

I thought I read somewhere that it was also supposed to be a charity dinner? Or am I imagining things?

Guess, let's please get back on topic after I go on a loopy rant using every pundit talking point in the book, thanks.

Obviously you don't want your highest paid pitcher in the pen, especially when he's not a closer, but he's been awful for the past... long freaking time. Gorzelanny didn't deserve to go to the pen, although, I think some time in Iowa wouldn't hurt Wells. Regardless, if you're going to keep Wells in the majors, Z can go to the pen. Pay him to be a middle reliever, I don't care, I'm tired of his act.

I agree with Jimmy H and Craig B in the comments.

The Cubs sure know how to blow things out of proportion. Z acted stupid, but Randy Bush and the rest of the Cubs brass are acting - stupider?

Hopefully when Hendry goes all those guys go with him, especially the Hawaiian shirted, neanderthal Bush.

I love when people talk politics in baseball discussion threads, because we are all just sitting here dying to find out your opinion about these things. I know that's why I came here.

I just appreciate how he was begging for us all to get back on topic after he swerved it off topic as much as possible Very considerate.

I'm sure we all remember this quote from last September:

Look, this is the only season I haven't won 16 or 18 or 14 games ... If it happens again next season, two seasons in a row, I'll quit. Believe me, I'll quit. I just have to put this behind me.

Hmm, maybe the problem will just fix himself.

then don't send him down you [expletive] idiots.

but hey, i guess it's crucial that we keep a terrible 37 year old on the roster for meaningless games instead instead of letting a younger/better pitcher develop

Lilly's got it exactly correct. the genie's out of the bottle though

"That's a question beyond my decision making," Lilly said. "Is it a relationship that can be repaired with the team? I definitely believe so. I think I, personally, know that I've done things I wish I had not done and have been forgiven for them. We'll see what happens. It's not our call, really."

There were more questions than answers on Saturday, the day after Zambrano's meltdown. Cubs manager Lou Piniella said the least Zambrano could do was apologize to his teammates.

"What he needs to do, I don't think that's my call as to what the requirements are," Lilly said. "You certainly wish a situation like that wouldn't have come up. From past experiences, I would prefer stuff that goes on through the course of the season is inside the clubhouse and we keep private matters private."

Lilly said there are going to be disagreements between players over the course of a long season. This was extreme.

"I don't think he meant it to be offensive," Lilly said of Zambrano's comments in the dugout. "I think he was angry. He probably could've handled it in a different situation to get his point across."

I'm not sure you have the right guy here. I think you might be thinking of Gary Hughes. I'm not sure I've ever seen Randy Bush in a Hawaiian shirt.

After Z's blowup I would have put the odds at greater than 50/50 that he's not a Cub next year. Now I think the percentage is in the high 90's that he's wearing a new uniform in 2011 after this.

i'm 90% sure he'll still be a cub.

I'm betting he's a goner by the end of the season.

After I read that Zambrano had dinner with Ozzie after the blowup game, I have to admit that irritated me a little. According to the story above there are member of the Cubs front office and coaching staff that didn't like it either.

He's gone

i really don't see a problem with it at all.
