ARAM(he will probably opt out at year's end anyway)

Hilariously wrong.

Check your facts. ARAM's contract says he can walk at the end of 2010.

Why would he want to stay here at all?

Money.

Because he's hitting 072

Lee and Ramirez have hit like crap all year, Zambrano has another meltdown and is on the restricted list, yet we should fire Lou because he has shorted Geovany Soto a few at bats? . I am guessing this "thought" process is just a bunch of fans looking for a scapegoat of some sort, blindly lashing out at a horrible team assembled by Jim Hendry.

Lou's not to blame for Lee and Ramirez hitting like crap all year, or Zambrano having another meltdown, but Jim Hendry is?

For a guy that chastises others for looking for a scapegoat of some sort, you sure seem to be looking for a scapegoat of some sort.

So you dont think the bloated contracts and no trade clauses ala Jim Hendry have more to do with the failure of this years Cubs than the fact Hill is getting a few extra starts a month ?

I'd rank the reasons for the failure of this year's Cubs as follows:

1) the under-performance of the players on the roster (Lee Ramirez Zambrano Grabow etc.)

2) the way the roster has been managed (Lou -- lineups, bullpen management, etc.)

3) the way the roster has been assembled (Hendry -- contracts, NTCs etc.)

So it's nonsensical for you to absolve Lou because it's not his fault that the players aren't producing, but then turn around and blame Hendry. Hendry has even less to do with that.

Your mini-rant about finding a scapegoat just made it even more amusingly hypocritical.

LOL. I was done with this thread, but this post is really just too ridiculous to let pass. I am guessing you did not bother to re-read what you wrote.

1 " Under-performance of the players on the roster" and

3 " The way the roster has been assembled"

I won't even insult the other readers by pointing out just how foolish this is. Good day. Thanks for a much needed laugh.

Who is arguing otherwise?

See, you're giving Lou a free pass because the roster sucks. "Oh well, Lee and Ramirez are awful, so who cares if Lou is making it worse."

Hahaha you can't discern the difference between an underperforming team and a poorly-constructed team?

Being done with this thread is a very good idea for you.

It's not giving Lou a free pass. It's pointing out that when Lou isn't problem 1 or even problem 1-5, then having 5 pages of "Fire Lou rabble rabble rabble" a week seems like misplaced frustration.

You say that as if there isn't 1000 other pages in other threads lamenting the crap job that Hendry has done, or the vacationing owner who hasn't pulled the trigger or all sorts of other stuff. Seriously, your complaint is empty. There is absolutely nothing wrong with people blasting a manager making the same stupid decisions repeatedly. Who gives a crap if he isn't a top 5 problem. He's part of the problem. Quit worrying about what bothers other fans about this team. We don't all have to follow some sort of mandated guideline dictating exactly what we can and cannot complain about and how much time we can spend complaining about which aspects of the Cubs.

That's fair, but even when only looking at Lou, like I mentioned a page or two ago, the criticism is overdone. He apparently hates Soto, and his bullpen management hasn't been all that great, and that's pretty much the extent of the legitimate gripes against him.

How about continuing to put Ryan Theriot in the leadoff spot? How bout continuing to play Theriot over Fontenot? How about leaving his starters in too long because of some ridiculous fear of the bullpen? How about the numerous times this year he's let a pitcher hit, only to change pitchers at the beginning of the nxt inning? How about him burning thru players in close games like yesterday? Waste Nady, and then send Fuku up just to bunt instead of using Dempster who leads the world in sac bunts the past 2 years?

But you are right its just the Soto thing and bullpen use that Lous terrible at.

Look thru this thread and you will see plenty more example of Lous idiocy. Its not 30 pages or whatever this thread is of constant bitching about Soto.

Oh and just for you TT, Koyie Hill starting again today. Righty on the mound Soto can't play vs rightys anymore. Brilliance.

Thank goodness you were able to document this.

It's pretty hard to debate that Lou has cost us wins this season and in the past with his decisions. But it's also pretty hard to debate that he has cost us enough wins to somehow make this season worthwhile otherwise. Bring in whoever you think the greatest mind in managing is and we're maybe six games under .500 rather than 11. Not quite "oh joy, happy day."

It isn't going to mean a damn thing is Lou gets fired now. On second thought, it might mean a damn thing if Ricketts considers that his rolling head and leaves Jimbo in charge next season. There's an argument to be made for just leaving things as they are, so maybe things get so bad there have to be real changes.

Koyie Hill sucks against righties even more than he does in general. He's hitting .222/.263/.292 against them this year, and his three year splits are .204/.279/.291.

I wonder what he's hit the last 28 days, though...

people really give a [expletive] about mike fontenot getting stiffed playing time?

Don't think they care at all about Fontenot. People give a [expletive] about Theriot getting an unjustifiable amount of playing time.

When they start this fire sale, please start with dumping Hendry first. Do not let this man have the authority to do even more damage than he has already done.

I don't think a majority of this team's poor performance is Lou's fault. I also don't think a managerial change will make any material difference in the remainder of the season. With that said, at some the Cubs just have to make a change unless they want to give the impression that they really don't care.

Exactly. It's probably only coincidental that the team is playing exactly the same way as Lou manages. Uncaring. Let Lou do what he wants to do, and that's anything but sitting in the Cubs dugout. Let Trammell run the team for the rest of the year. Maybe the team will continue to suck, and maybe they will suck even more when they sell off a bunch of players, but it does give the impression that they do care. They've already been through a couple of hitting coaches. Now it's time for the GM and manager to take a hike.
