So...how's everyone doing in their brackets after today?

Actually, pretty good with all things considered. If FSU hangs on to win, ND will be my first Elite Eight team lost and I'll still have all of my Final Four teams left. Judging by a lot of others, that's actually not too bad.

Setting new records for futility. One final 4 team and 3 Elite 8 teams left.

If we pretend the Southeast region doesn't exist, then pretty good. Only missed on Marquette-Cuse in the East and Arizona-Texas and Cincy-Missouri in the West.

lol at my drunk post. "If FSU hangs on to lose." That's a new one.

But yeah, I've had years much worse than this one.

My worst first two rounds ever in terms of correct picks, but I've got my final four and 6/8 elite eight intact, so not a total catastrophe.

I'm not remotely surprised. FSU was a hideous matchup for Notre Dame, and it didn't help that just like in Morgantown, the game was more or less officiated like a football game.

Kudos to the Noles. They played about as well as it was possible for them to play for about the first 25 minutes, and that was more than enough.

I've got 3 Final Four teams left but the same amount of Elite 8. I'm pretty sure I've never been down to 3/8 before the Sweet 16 even began. EDIT: Check that I've got 4. I was still operating under my worst case scenario if KU had lost.

I have 10 of the 16 teams still alive, with 5 Elite 8 and 3 Final 4 teams alive. I'll take it considering the blood bath yesterday

Same for Purdue. They couldn't handle anything that VCU threw at them and matched up poorly based on size and strength. Good thing there aren't many Butler fans around to talk trash about owning Indiana right now.

VCU was running circles around Purdue, and Painter simply could not adjust. The Boilers looked completely over-matched.

I spent the Illinois game in the Denver Airport, and I encountered Kansas fans in mass for the first time. I learned I hate Kansas fans. Thank god I've never been to that state.

I thought we played really well. If McCamey had actually taken charge and attempted to score I think we could have given Kansas a real scare. I was happy with the effort, and we hung with them until the last five minutes. Kansas is just far better and the twins wore us down.

i'll also say that KU got a lot of calls in the second half because they are KU and we are UI. that didn't help, the refs had probably never even heard of the university of illinois before the game. they went with what they knew.

I live in the state. I loathe them with every fiber of my being. That's why I love laughing at the Royals. Although most of them are pretty fair weather and instead cheer for the Red Sox or Yankees.

I don't want to make this about Illinois not being slighted by an outside force, but that wouldn't have been as much of an issue if McCamey and Tisdale didn't suck so badly. McCamey was terrible, and that plays were run for Tisdale over and over and over when he was so over matched inside and clearly couldn't hit anything about gave me an aneurysm.

I'm not trying to be illiniguy here, but Bruce's loyalty to his seniors really hurt us last night. Cole and Davis were fine, but DMac and Tisdale just killed us.

The problem is the only other one doing any scoring was DJ, and he took 13 shots. Only one who seemed to deserve more tick/opportunities was Head, and I think that's a really tough call to sit McCamey for him.

McCamey was a more difficult situation to address, but there wasn't much of an excuse to keep feeding Tisdale in the post so he could continue to brick his little hook shots. It became painfully clear pretty early into the second half that he had no touch last night, and Tisdale with no touch is totally worthless.

Something else should have at least been tried, but it wasn't, really.

It's all conjecture and sophistry now, but I think we all take solace in the fact that we won't have to see them in uniform anymore.
