Ignore the Pearl incident for a minute and look at what else was going on with the program. They had already been busted with 2 major violations in 5 years.

Under a previous football regime.

I have a hard time blaming too much of the responsibility of Kiffen on Tennessee. They deserve some, but her deserves more.

They were talking about Illinois.

I hope they stick with kid, Berstein & Boers were, after saying what a turd he is about 10,000 times, suggesting they let him walk. That has disaster written all over it, someone, like [expletive] Kansas or Kentucky is waiting in the wings to pounce all over the situation. They'll take him on, help him mature and he'll develop into the player everyone thought he could be throwing yet more crap on Weber and Illinois. Don't give up on the kid Bruce.

None of the quotes from Illinois make it sound like he's going anywhere. Davis and Cole have come out saying he'll be a leader of the team next year, with Weber talking about moving forward and growing from it next year.

I think he stays. His plan is to go pro next year. He can't do that if he is sitting out a year.

I'm not remotely surprised. FSU was a hideous matchup for Notre Dame, and it didn't help that just like in Morgantown, the game was more or less officiated like a football game.

Kudos to the Noles. They played about as well as it was possible for them to play for about the first 25 minutes, and that was more than enough.

Same for Purdue. They couldn't handle anything that VCU threw at them and matched up poorly based on size and strength. Good thing there aren't many Butler fans around to talk trash about owning Indiana right now.

I've been a Butler fan since I was a little kid - I used to go play ball at Hinkle Fieldhouse. I'm a fan of all Indiana college basketball though. And instead of owning Indiana its more like; "Well, we still have Butler." Of course that could change like it did last year when Butler merchandise started covering Indianapolis like I had never seen it before. So all they have to do is make it to the Final 4 year after year and they'll start to close the gap between their fanbase and IU/Purdue.

I really want to see the IU job open up in a few years and have Stevens tell them to [expletive] off.

ETA: Stevens would say it in a far more dignified and classy manner than I just did.

Unfortunately, I seriously doubt you get the satisfaction of either. It's not like Stevens grew up a huge Hoosier fan or anything. I know someone, um, rather close to him and I feel pretty confident he'd leave for IU. That situation isn't likely to arise, though.

Jeremy Hollowell (2012) is expected to announce for IU this week. He would join Ferrell, Perea, Patterson, and Jurkin for that class. They are apparently still going after Gary Harris as well.

As Mike Davis one said, "Help is on the way."

Whats he going to do with all the grease and pit stained orange blazers? Hopefully he ends up at a school for juvenile delinquents with orange colors. Would hate to waste all that polyester.

I was unaware of Digger's role in that mess. His TV presence was unlikable enough.

I think the most interesting part of that is that my crappy Spanish abilities could understand almost all of that. I'd never thought about how simple the language in most of announcing is before.

Digger Phelps is a horrible human being.

Mike Anderson somehow parlayed this year into another raise. That guy knows how to work the system.

He must have went to the Bill Self school of negotiation. It was like every year when he was at Illinois.

Of course Indiana has no scholarships available for 2012. Not that that's a problem for them.

at least there was a chance Self was actually going somewhere.

Did anyone else hear that you cant call a timeout after 4 seconds when inbounding? how does that make any sense, you signal the TO and the ref is just supposed to stare blankly at you until the the last second is up and he can call the violation?

There is still one for 2012.

Hahahahahah ... this short white dude was on the line for Oklahoma State in their NIT game, and the Washington State student section started singing "It's a small world after all".
