hahahahaha TCU makes negative sense for the B12

Losing them doesn't really hurt us, either

It gives them 6 football schools, so the entire conference is in the hands of the ACC. They say "yes please" to UConn and Rutgers/West Virginia and the whole thing is shot.

Given that Pitt and Cuse had fled, this probably helps or at least doesn't really hurt. I can't imagine what's left of the Big East being happy to travel non-fb sports to Texas. That conference is down the tubes either way.

I can't imagine they're too happy about traveling to Milwaukee for non-fb sports either.

SSR, I'm really sorry someone you knew got raped and murdered in Milwaukee or whatever, but it's really not a bad town.

The Orangebloods guy is now saying that Texas is pushing ND to move its nonfootball sports to the Big 12 given that the Big East appears yet again on the verge of collapse.

Orangebloods typically sucks, do you see who is saying that?

Chip Brown. I'm not sure I believe it, just passing it along.

Who knows about the accuracy of that, but Dodd did publicly say some time ago that he told Swarbrick that he'd campaign for ND to join the conference in any fashion or something close to that. If it helps stabilize the Big 12 and gets their members a couple of games with ND every season, I can see that.

Plus it will keep ND's rivalries with Baylor and Texas Tech intact.

And finally gets the ND/tulane rivalry we've all been clamoring for off the ground

Better. Next time focus on recruiting advantages of playing in Kansas and Ames.

Chip Brown is the absolute worst. Don't believe anything that idiot says.

Tulane offers more to the Bevo Conference than TCU does.

More than Texas State did too.

No one beats an unfunny joke into the ground more than you guys here. You should be proud of yourselves.

if you're looking for better comedy you could always just watch texas a&m play football in the second half.

Alabama has longstanding rivalries with both Tennessee and Auburn, so forcing Auburn to the East to accommodate Mizzou would kill off one of them as an annual game. Personally I like it because I think Mizzou's a better cultural fit playing the East schools regularly, plus it's currently the weaker of the two in football and would provide a lot of marquee basketball games. You could also just rename the divisions if the concept of Mizzou playing in an Eastern division is too much to bear.

Or they could go to a North/South setup:

North

Missouri

Kentucky

Vandy

Tennessee

Arkansas

Georgia

South Carolina

South

Florida

LSU

Alabama

Auburn

Texas A&M

Mississippi

Mississippi St

If you go with 9 conference games, you'd have Tennessee with the 6 division games, guaranteed games vs Florida and Alabama, and then one rotating game. It'd work the same for each team. The South would be pretty rough in football, though, with that top 5 group.

Mountain West, Conference USA combine for 22-member football conference.

Why not add the Sun Belt and make a giant BCS Hates Us Conference?

Oh, the MAC isn't going to be happy about that.

What the holy hell? I can't believe anyone involved in any of this thinks this is a good idea.

Anyway also of note is that the Big East is supposedly going to invite Air Force and Boise State as football-only members and UCF, Houston and SMU as all-sports members, although I don't know how that's affected by this asinine merger.

Wow how does that conference deserve a BCS automatic bid with those teams. Big East would be:

Rutgers

West Virginia

Cincinnati

Louisville

South Florida

Connecticut

Air Force

Boise State

Central Florida

SMU

Which of those teams is going to be able to beat the Big Ten/Big 12/SEC/ACC champ in a bowl game? Hell, which one is going to sell even half their ticket allotment?

That's better than the Big East has been since Miami, VT, and BC left.

ESPN already reporting that Air Force and Boise St are unlikely to accept the invites
