I don't really care if Texas comes with OU or not. I think OU can get more TV money elsewhere even if someone gives OU a larger chunk of a TV deal that involved the Dead 12.

it seems OU would be better off without being in the shadow of Texas, but maybe Texas is holding OU more than we realize.

I'd think the Pac 10 will get to 12 and then there probably won't be much action for a while. Seems like Delaney's hope for global media domination didn't really pan out.

"Texas A&M is a proud member of the Big 12 Conference and will continue to be affiliated with the conference in the future. As Athletics Director Bill Byrne and I have stated on numerous occasions, our hope and desire was for the Big 12 to continue. We are committed to the Big 12 and its success today and into the future."

PBC is saying that the Big Ten believes that neither Texas nor A&M are out of play yet and that this isn't over.

big surprise.

It's over, at least for now. A few years from now, maybe it rears it's head again, but for now, it's a done deal.

Maybe, but it might not wait a few years either.

I think the deal-breaker on this, other than the money amount, was that "chance for each school to have its own network."

So, here's hoping to see something like,

"Wildcat Network"

"PowerMizzou TV"

"RockChalk Network"

etc.

Each university could make some money on the side in their own terms.

And at the same time, as a 10-team league, the Big 12 would be more profitable than having a 12 team, IMHO. While losing Nebraska does hurt in terms of value, losing Colorado was a god-send, because Colorado was CLEARLY underperforming, and was not worth a damn keeping.

And most likely, Nebraska and Colorado will eventually have to pay the exit penalty.

Pay up, suckas!

Tell me you're not serious about those networks.

Yeah, when the Big 12 lost their 3rd best and most valuable program as well as another big market, as well as at least one game every weekend as well as their most profitable day all year, that screams "more profitable than before" to me.

UT is running your league even more than before. It's just Tina coming back to Ike because he gave her a bigger ring after he slapped her and bought himself a new car.

I don't believe for a second that Nebraska is the 4th most valuable program in the NCAA, and even if they are close to that they're trending down. The national following is gonna disappear when they never win more than 8 games for the next forever.

I'm still pissed about this. I want all of A&M's leadership replaced. They are spineless, weak, and short sighted.

I wonder how long the Mack-10 will survive? Maybe 5 years?

Joe Schad says that Texas Tech is that last holdout to formally commit to the conference, but that's expected today.

That's cute Texas Tech thought the Pac 10 actually wanted them.

Isn't Nebraska football on the upswing right now? I mean that might be leveled off by going to a more difficult division in a more difficult conference, but I don't see why they couldn't be a powerhouse again. I'm not saying it's a given, but I think if they can somewhat hold onto some of their footholds in the plains and texas, and gain new ground in the midwest/big ten country, they will be fine.

Uhh...

Unbelievable. The five "leftovers" (KU, KSU, ISU, BU, Mizzou) agreed to sign over their share of CU/NU's buyout money to UT/OU/A&M.

He also said that Nebraska and Colorado were wise to get out when they could. We'll see what kind of rules are put in place to prevent other schools from bolting, but I agree with him.

They aren't as bad as they were when Callahan coached them, but upswing implies that they can be better than they are now. They'll finish 8-4 again this year, and even that will be partially a product of their schedule.

Man...those schools were truly terrified of life after the Big 12.

That call gave me no reason to believe there's anything stopping that league from crumbling again a year from now.

It might only take a year until the other schools in the conference really start to rethink whether they'd have been better off taking their chances with a conference collapse.

can't say i blame them. if the reported deal is true, baylor and iowa st stand to make $15 million in tv revenue. nobody cares about those schools and nobody is tuning in to watch them on tv. if not for the coattails of the real teams in that conference, they'd make about 15 dollars in tv revenue.

For the schools that had very little hope(KSU, ISU, BU), it makes a ton of sense to make that concession. For a school like KU or Mizzou, they just took the easy way out because of fear of the unknown.

Is that with or without the MyBaylorTV revenues?

I think KU was really resistant to fighting to break away from KSU. Which was dumb. I have to feel like MU will still jump at the first chance to leave. If I were Alden, I'd be sending fruit baskets to the Big 10 and SEC every week.

I know for a fact that A LOT of Aggie fans are sick to their stomach at their fave schools dependence of Texas. The ones I know were screaming to go to the SEC, but apparently the TAM leadership didn't listen what the fans wanted, but what their pockets wants.

As for the Big 1+11-2 Conference, 5 years is highly unlikely. I'd give them half that time, before other schools in the conference have buyer's remorse and jump ship.
