My favorite two tidbits from the poll:

Cincy got one first-place vote. Brian Kelly gave it to them.

Bo Pelini voted Texas #1.

Boise State vs TCU is so lame.

This. It's such a copout. Give these teams a chance to take out a BCS school, which they probably would have.

Maybe the powers that be a afraid if these smaller schools keep having good showings against the big boys, they'll have to consider giving them a title shot at some point.

Weak.

Texas is going to get raped by Alabama. I predict it will be the least compelling of the BCS bowls.

No question. There's really not a whole lot of intrigue for me in these games this year. In fact, I could see all five of the BCS games being non-competitive.

Just found out that they opened up a BCS store for the holidays down the street from me, thought that was pretty cool.

Where exactly is this?

Southlake Town Center, not far from you at all either. Not sure where in the center, just got an email about it.

You are in Lewisville? This should be real close to me.

Now more so in Grapevine off of 26. I'm in Southlake at least once a week too, so its convienant :-).

Wow. You are close to me. I'm basically at Harwood & 121.

I honestly think I'd have Texas 5th.

I know we've discussed this before, but it annoys me. I can't think of one cogent, persuasive reason why Texas should be No. 2. I think both TCU and Cincinnati (who, after watching them play the last four games, I don't really think they're very good) have better resumes. I'm unsure if I'd rank Texas or Boise State fourth -- Boise has the better individual win, but not much else at all. I'd probably put Texas fourth (unless I decided on Florida fourth?).

Also want to, redundantly for this thread, express disappointment at the TCU-Boise State game. Sure it will be a great game -- as it was last year, when I watched -- but they "deserved" a chance to play a team for the BCS conferences (and I'm not sure how the status quo is the best for ratings either).

According to Sagarin, Texas' SOS was a lot better than Cincy or TCU

Just guessing, but I'm assuming that's due to a lack of terrible teams on Texas's schedule, while Cincy and TCU had a handful. That's not to say it's not meaningful, but it doesn't mean as much to me as if Texas played a bunch of good teams, while Cincy/TCU were playing mediocrities.

most of Sagarin's formulas are a mystery, but he ranks them thusly (on SOS):

Texas - 44th

Cincinnati - 63rd

TCU - 84th

Other BCS Bowl teams:

Alabama - 20th

Florida - 27th

Oregon - 4th

Boise State - 98th

Ohio State - 59th

Ga Tech - 25th

Iowa - 49th

According to Sagarin, Texas has wins over Nos. 23, 24, 31, 32, 47, 58, 61, 65, 80, 92, 99, 108, and 113. TCU beat Nos. 21, 29, 35, 55, 70, 88, 94, 99, 109, 110, 146, and 156. Cincinnati -- which plays in a tougher conference than Texas, per Sagarin -- beat Nos. 15, 18, 27, 41, 51, 52, 53, 85, 91, 93, 151and (unranked) Southeast Missouri State.

Both teams have better wins -- Clemson for TCU, both Oregon State and Pitt for Cincy -- than Texas. The best win Texas has, per Sagarin is Oklahoma, followed closely by Nebraska. Think about that: the team playing for the National Championship has as its best two wins a win over a 7-5 team (that lost to BYU, a team TCU beat by 31 points on the road) and a one-point crapfest win over 9-4 team that lost at home to Iowa State. Texas certainly has more wins against mid-range teams, and they didn't play near the cupcakes TCU or Cincinnati played. I'm on the record -- at least as it pertains to the NCAA basketball tournament -- that I highly value "best wins" compared to overall strength of schedule. As I said above, I'm not much of a believer in Cincinnati, and think Florida will score just about every time they get the ball in the Sugar Bowl. Still, they should be ranked ahead of Texas.

Now, Alabama, that's a resume. Wins over Nos. 2, 7, 10, 16, 22, 25, 26, 34, 40, 45, 143, 162, and (unranked) Florida International. They have five -- FIVE -- wins better than anyone Texas has beat. Now, obviously, this is irrelevant as Alabama isn't pertinent to this discussion.

Spiller should have gone over Tebow.

StiffArmTrophy.com is collecting all the ballots they can find that are made public, and so far they have Gerhart winning, with Ingram and Suh in a virtual tie for 2nd.

Was Suh highly regarded coming out of high school?

Suh attended Grant High School in Portland, Oregon, where he earned Parade All-America honors and was voted the 2004 Portland Interscholastic League Defensive Player of the Year and the state Class 4A Defensive Player of the Year.

Considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, Suh was ranked sixth among defensive tackle prospects in the nation.

Yeah, that's a pretty glaring snub. Figures.

Eh, it's not that outrageous. I know he's an all-around threat but he ran for less than 1,200 yards and had 15 offensive TD's in 13 games. He had four 100-yard rushing games and two 75-yard receiving games. He was a good return man and boom or bust back who had some games with almost no impact offensively.

I still can't believe Duke landed Oghobaase.
