Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Penn State.

There's just no way they can be allowed to win the Big Ten again this year. Beat them this week and make sure of that.

time for LSU to get EXPEAUSED against Alabama

I kinda think LSU wins. Possibly without scoring an offensive TD.

A refreshed Bama defense at home.....I don't think so. Early line has Bama as 10 point favorites, but I think they will come down to about 3.5 by Saturday. Bama by 10 and it won't even be that close.

unless someone on alabama dies, i really doubt the line drops 6.5 points.

And if McElroy dies it might rise 6.5 points.

I'm surprised they didn't talk about this call. They spent a five minute review on this play and still called it a TD for Florida.

Here's something I don't understand. Wasn't Boise State ranked ahead of TCU for most of the season? Now the Coaches poll and BCS standings have TCU ahead of Boise State. Why is that?

Boise State's schedule, besides Oregon, is complete and total garbage, pretty much. TCU, meanwhile is playing in a league most consider better than the ACC at this point.

People consider the MWC better than the ACC? TCU is probably the best team out of both conferences, but it's all downhill from there for the MWC. The bottom 2/3rds of the league have to count for something. Despite the ACC's awful early season losses I don't think they're significantly worse than the Big 10, 12, or East. TCU still has a pretty tough schedule though, and they've handled it very well.

It's the only statistical analysis of conferences I can find, but Sagarin actually rates the ACC a clear 3rd in conferences (both by central mean and average). There aren't any huge gaps between the big 6, but there is clear separation:

1. Pac-10

2. SEC

3. ACC

4. Big East

5. Big XII

6. Big Ten

The MWC is actually rated 8th, behind the independents (ND-Army-Navy), although there is a slightly larger gap between the Pac-10 and the Big Ten than there is between the Big Ten and the MWC.

Big Ten apologists, before you chime in, we all know the Big Ten is down. That doesn't mean Iowa is bad, or their schedule blows (actually, they have the toughest rated schedule of all unbeaten teams), just that the league is full of some pretty bad teams this year (really, think about it...Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern and Michigan are probably worse than every Pac-10 and SEC team outside of Vandy and Washington State).

LOL, the old pre-emptive strike on all you Big 10 apologists. Awesome.

With 2 injured QBs, here's hoping for a whole lot of wildcat this weekend. Run Golden Run.

Think Jimmy's actually hurt seriously? I was under the impression he could have played if he needed to, but up 23 there was no reason to keep him out there.

Michael Floyd should be back this week, thank God. It's odd that in a year where two ND players are receiving some attention for Heisman votes, we're finally getting back a guy who might be better than both.

I'm not sure how hurt Clausen was or is. I'm positive he'll start and play at least half the game. But I'm hoping the defense can play assignment football, we can get up a couple scores early and Sharpley or the Wildcat can take over in the 2nd half. I don't think Clausen was as hurt as he was against PU when he had to play to lead the comeback. But he was hobbling pretty bad.

I'm not sure I want Floyd back yet. Unless it's solely to get timing back, he doesn't need to see the field against Navy. No reason to bring him back early and have him re-injure his shoulder and miss the biggest remaining game on the schedule (Pitt). I think/hope we'll see a lot of Hughes or Allen, if he's healthy, and some deep passes to Tate and Goodman early and win this one going away. Navy is no WSU, but they shouldn't be able to keep up with ND's size and speed.

I miss Floyd. I'm excited to see him back. I wouldn't expect him to play much though, like you said. Just get him out there and warm him up for Pitt when ND's really going to need him.

Navy shouldn't be a problem at all - ND's been relatively good against the run and hideous against the pass, and the Middies can't pass. This will be my 3rd and last game at the stadium this year and I look forward to a nice easy one (hopefully).

Here's an article in the LA Times talking about how the refs seem to be helping teams win games.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-dufresne2-2009nov02,0,2448913.column?page=1

Again lets be honest. If some idiot from the LA Times just says something like "Derek Jetter is a GG SS cause he dived in the stands for the ball once" we would be all over him on this board. This is the same kind of reporting, just pulling out a couple of examples of bad calls that seem to be helping conference big dogs out, without looking over all of the teams games and actually seeing if a team is really benefitting from poor officiating. I also think the amount of people who would have to know about these kind of things make it questionable if a real conspiracy could actually be taking place without someone somewhere blowing the whistle.

holy cross is up to #14 in the fcs rankings... we'd be top 10 if we hadn't lost to friggin brown. i guess there's still a chance that we'd get a home game for the first round of the fcs playoffs if we win out.

Chris Dufresne is actually a pretty solid college football columnist.

Me and the couple other Vol fans on this board may be the only ones interested in this, but I found it interesting:

Jonathan Crompton v UCLA, Florida, Auburn (first 3 major conference teams): 44-88 - 2:5 TD:INT

Jonathan Crompton v UGA, Alabama, S Carolina (his 3 major conference teams since): 53-87 - 7:2 TD:INT

First off, the pass attempts are wildly similar. Second off, that's a major improvement on the TD:INT ratio and a very nice improvement (10%) on the completion percentage.

How long does it take to recover from ACL surgery?

I shouldnt have called him an idiot. I stand by my overall point though. Question is, did he even watch all the games he was writing about or did he just watch the hightlights on ESPN. I didnt either, but is it possible that there may have been bad calls in those games that went the other way that were not nearly as "hyped" by Sportscenter.

Wait, so you are calling him an idiot for having an opinion about certain plays, but you didn't in fact watch the plays yourself? How can you have an opinion about something you didn't see for yourself? I watched the entire Iowa/IU game and there were some ridiculous calls that went against IU.

I read that. Apparently the contract stipulates that 6 ND games must be broadcast over the air on NBC, but since the current contract calls for 8 games a year on NBC, two games could move to cable. (And with the upcoming schedules - which were of course caused by the ridiculous NBC-based scheduling philosophy - they probably should.)

I get Versus, so whatever, I guess. Big problems for those who miss out though.
