LSU is NINE in the BCS? Color me annoyed someone's going to get credit for winning this game.

Mizzou's march from basement to defense of the most mediocre division in college football, somehow even worse than the ACC Atlantic, continues with a game against Baylor without Hot Tub Griffin. Mizzou should win big, and hopefully Kansas can play defense for however many quarters it takes to show that KSU is still a joke.

I think you may be disappointed on the KU trying to make KSU a joke. Todd Reesing has been total garbage since the Colorado game.

I should also address that Kansas doesn't have a good run defense, and Kansas State boast a very strong running game. They did punish that OU defense with a 149 yards on the ground, a solid 5.1 clip. Not to mention that they tacked on 364 total yards against that talented OU defense.

Before this game, if somebody would have told me that K-State would score 30+ on that OU team, I wouldn't buy it. Was thinking more of the line of 10-17 points.

Mizzou got a commitment from Rival's 4-star DE Kony Ealy today. Ranked third in the state of Missouri and the 11th DE in the country. It's Mizzou's fourth 4-star commitment for the 2010 class, which is huge for the program.

Good for you guys. I'd also keep an eye on Derrion Thomas, who I believe, will be going to Missouri after he completes his one year stint in Longview Community College in Lee's Summit.

He's the son of the late Derrick Thomas, for those who are interested.

Michael Floyd officially cleared to play. Dayne Crist torn ACL and done for the year, so Evan Sharpley is back as backup quarterback.

A lot of people seem to be hugely concerned about having to root for Kansas this weekend. I don't feel the same way, mostly because it boils down to this: Obviously we have to win out to win the North, which would put as at 5-3. That includes a win over K-State. I don't see the Wildcats winning at Lincoln either, but I do think they'll beat Kansas this weekend, putting them at 4-4 on the year.

FWIW, this is how I think the North plays out:

1. Missouri (5-3) - Wins vs. Baylor, @ K-State, vs. Iowa State, @ Kansas

2. Nebraska (4-4) - Losses vs. Oklahoma, @ Kansas; Wins vs. K-State, @ Colorado

3. Kansas State (4-4) - Win vs. Kansas; Losses vs. Missouri, @ Nebraska

4. Iowa State (3-5) - Losses vs. Oklahoma State, @ Missouri; Win vs. Colorado

5. Kansas (2-6) - Losses @ K-State, @ Texas, vs. Missouri; Win vs. Nebraska

6. Colorado (1-7) - Losses vs. Texas A&M, @ Iowa State, @ Oklahoma State, vs. Nebraska

Obviously since this is college football it could and probably all will change this weekend.

I think Mizzou loses at Kansas and Iowa State wins vs. OSU.

Then the Big 12 decides to pool the best players from Mizzou, Nebraska, KSU and Iowa State to lose to Texas by 30 in the Big 12 championship.

Well, @ Kansas is actually in Kansas City...and I can definitely see Mizzou losing it, but in this scenario I'm playing it out as Mizzou is actually going to not be completely awful for a change and win out.

Also - I fully support a Big 12 North Supergroup in the Championship game.

Here's something I don't understand. Wasn't Boise State ranked ahead of TCU for most of the season? Now the Coaches poll and BCS standings have TCU ahead of Boise State. Why is that?

Boise State's schedule, besides Oregon, is complete and total garbage, pretty much. TCU, meanwhile is playing in a league most consider better than the ACC at this point.

The Mountain West better than the ACC ? Not really.

All would agree that the ACC Atlantic is mediocre at best, but the Coastal has 3 solid teams who have all played a solid schedule thus far in 2009.

One source, the Sagarin ratings has 5 ACC teams in the Top 20 of SOS. The Mountain West has 3 in the Top 50.

With that being said, I'd love to see TECH run the table the rest of the way and go against TCU in the Orange Bowl (if TCU can't leapfrog into the championship game --- they would against a 1 loss Texas team who has a weak SOS).

Colorado RB Darrell Scott - the #2 rated HS prospect in 2008 (behind Terrelle Pryor) - has left Colorado and is trying to transfer to UCLA.

No idea why Scott was third on the depth chart at Colorado but Scott would be the third guy to transfer from Colorado to UCLA in the past 1.5 years. Hawkins is gone after this season, isn't he? Seems like Colorado is a mess.

people would argue that because the mountain west has three good teams, one of those is really good, but the mountain west overall is nowhere near as good as the acc. the dregs of the mountain west (sdsu, colo st, wyoming, unlv, new mexico) would get smoked by the bottom of the acc (duke, virginia, wake, nc st, maryland). plus you can match up the top four in each conference fairly well - ga tech is probably a little worse than tcu, va tech probably a little better than utah, miami roughly even or slightly better than byu, clemson is better than air force).

I have no idea why Scott chose Colorado to begin with. On signing day it was between them and Texas, but he went with Colorado because his cousin (I think) is playing with them right now.

Hawkins is probably gone. They were chanting fire Hawkins at the end of the first half at the game this weekend(side note: Folsom Field is pretty cool). The only way he's not is if the University can't afford to pay his buyout and a new coach's salary.

Scott has been a mess since he got there. He's been hurt, ineffective, a bit of a problem-child with work ethic, etc. I wonder if his injury sapped him of a little bit of explosiveness, since he needs every bit as a small back. Maybe he just wasn't that good to begin with.

It's his uncle, WR Josh Smith. Smith transferred to UCLA over the summer so I guess it's not surprising Scott is following him.

Did not see it posted anywhere, but ESPN reported today that Mickey Andrews is out as Defensive Coordinator at Florida State. Early rumblings I have heard have the current LB coach from Bama (whose name escapes me right now) taking over.

I can see an odd sequence of events that leads to Rodney Garner (current DL coach at UGA) moving to Bama to coach LB. It'll happen when Willie Martinez is fired at UGA and Garner is not promoted to DC.

First part is true. Second is pure speculation.

We have Kirby Smart, Sal Sunseri and James Willis all working with the LBers. And if it is one of Bama's coaches that will replace Andrews, it won't happen till the offseason (since my guess is Andrews will finish out the season and then retire) and my money is on Kirby Smart being the guy, because he has "it" as a coach. And I must admit, I rather Smart go to FSU then GA anyday of the week.

sorry about your loss to Northwestern

I would say there's no way they could lose to Northwestern, but the Cats beat IU...

And we've had Iowa's number the past few years.

Iowa has really played down to the level of their competition in a few games this season. Homer prediction: If Kafka and PickManis are healthy, NU will make it interesting.
