I dont doubt it, it just gets on my nerves that ESPN and a lot of the media outlets have recently made it seem like it only happens in Chicago. I'm pretty sure it happens in Boston, NY and other MLB cities. As much as people want to think everything is nice and sweet in wrigleyville its not. There are a lot of racist people around that area. I'm Latino and personally I haven't really experienced any racism in that area but I wouldn't be surprised if there there is a lot of racism towards black people in that area. Although Wrigleyville is mainly white and i would assume most of the racism is from White cubs fans, Latino, Indian, etc, can also be racist so i wouldn't exclude other ethnicities of being guilty. Like i said personally i haven't experienced the Racism in that area but i'm speaking from a different perspective. And I feel you can't really speak on this matter unless you can relate because sometimes a remark you feel is harmless, other will translate into racism.

Just as an example of this, I was out with a group of friends and one my friend's friend kept calling Amigo all night or kept addressing me as compadre or amigo. I mean dude said it a friendly tone but I honestly took it as racist eventhough i'm pretty sure he didn't mean it in that way. I mean maybe some ethnicities are overly sensitive sometimes but you have also have understand why before saying someone is playing the race card or someone is looking too much into it.

There are racists everywhere, the media needs to get over the fact that it isn't just Cubs fans. It really sickens me that there are people in the world who don't have anything better to do than sit down and write a letter to a baseball player full of racist garbage.

I too have a hard time believing that it's just Chicago players that experience this....not Boston? Atlanta? the Texas teams? I'm sure it's probably because 90% of the baseball articles I read are Cubs related, but I don't recall racism being a hot topic for any other MLB team. It really blows that players are still having to deal with racist hatred..bleh.

So do people here still think that Bradley didn't accuse Cub fans of racism?

I still think he accused the racist fans of being racist. I don't think he accused all Cubs fans of it.

Yeah I agree with that. But i'm also tired of how Bradley, Jones and Hawkins used it for sympathy towards them. Kind of an excuse of why they performed poorly or why their performance wasn't that good. I'm sorry as a minority racism happens all the time, if you're that weak that you let it affect you or if you're that pathetic that you use it as an excuse, than you choose the wrong profession. I've been to cubs games and i've seen fans talk trash to Soriano but yet until this past year, Soriano had some good seasons with the cubs and when he played bad, he didnt use the fans as an excuse. Derrick Lee is black and i'm sure he has heard or has received some hate mail but yet he goes out there and performs.

thats kind of why sometimes i hate going to cubs games because you run into those stupid drunk fans that aren't fans but instead are going to game because they think its the "in" thing to do. I mean how many times do you see on tv the dumb fan who's wearing a cubs shirt on her cell phone not paying attn to the game whatsoever. Thats the most annoying thing ever when i'm at a cubs game.

You see that at every game for any team. That's not a Cubs-specific thing.

Oh, there's no question this crap happens in Boston, NY, and Philly as well.

I bet it happens a lot more in those places, actually. I think the Cubs players are just the only ones who complain about it.

Are they really the only ones to complain about it? I can't remember anybody specific, but I thought there have been some complaints in those cities recently.

Boston has a well-known racist reputation. While a lot of it is historically rooted, it may still be merited.

Despite those conditions, Wood -- who lives in Chicago with his family during the offseason -- wouldn't rule out a return to the Cubs after he plays out the final year of his contract with Cleveland.

"Never say never," Wood said.

Best part of that article.

We should trade for Wood. But to justify his salary, he also has to sort through the team mail and get rid of the racist letters. Two birds, one stone!

Kerry should retire a Cub.

I still think we should try to trade Bradley and maybe Heilman for Wood.

Eric Wedge hates Milton Bradley. And Aaron Heilman should be non-tendered.

Why does it matter Eric Wedge hates Bradley? I wouldnt think Cleveland would care what their fired manager thinks about a player......

There is an overwhelming amount of racism here in STL...

Oh yeah definitely, i forgot about St. Louis. No wonder they have like no black players on their roster.
