Right. Good call a 5 game series tells you much more about a team than an entire 162. What was I thinking?

The WS and NLCS are 7 games.

If you get to them.

And are you kidding me. That's how lucky we've been.

Would you take the 2006 Cardinals or the 2008 Cubs?

I'd take the team that didn't lose 8 games in a row TWICE that year.

And for God's sake, some luck would be nice once in a while, too, I know we don't deserve it.

2008 Cubs without any hesitation. If you're asking me if I'd rather have a World Series than a playoff sweep, the answer is obvious, but the 08 Cubs would drum the 06 Cardinals.

The 2008 Cubs. They are going to make the playoffs everytime. The '06 Cards usually won't.

The Cardinals made the playoffs and then won the world series, and you would take the 2008 Cubs, a team that failed to show up for even one inning and went home with the title "division winner"? That's some very strong kool aid there.

You really would take an 83 win team over 97 wins? Then you should be content with this Cubs team.

The 08 Cubs couldn't even beat the Dodgers in the NLDS, for even one game. What makes you think they could beat a world series champion?

Your posts in this thread are idiotic. Actually in most threads.

Sure, with the benefit of hind sight. Unfortunately, teams can't be built that way. Without knowing the playoff result, the answer is simple: take the better regular season team every time

The Cards became good when they needed to. They got the job done. They "finished". I'll take that anyday over a team that flies through the egular season and sets MLB records with nine straight playoff losses.

Here's the question. If the ump calls Dave Roberts out at 2B in game 4 of the ALCS on a close play (which certainly could happen and is something completely out of their control) are the Red Sox a choking team? They would have been swept by their rivals and would have lost in the ALCS two years in a row.

How can you say that the best teams always advance when they rely on an umpires call of a bang bang play to not get swept?
