The Cards became good when they needed to. They got the job done. They "finished". I'll take that anyday over a team that flies through the egular season and sets MLB records with nine straight playoff losses.

Does anyone know what the answer was to the trivia question regarding the first Cub to use 10 and 5 rights?

Santo, vetoing a trade to the Angels in '73.

Would you take the 2006 Cardinals or the 2008 Cubs?

The 2008 Cubs. They are going to make the playoffs everytime. The '06 Cards usually won't.

The Cardinals made the playoffs and then won the world series, and you would take the 2008 Cubs, a team that failed to show up for even one inning and went home with the title "division winner"? That's some very strong kool aid there.

Your posts in this thread are idiotic. Actually in most threads.

And you seem rather hostile considering the rather simple and fun context of baseball here. There's no need for personal attacks when disagreeing on baseball discussions. Go outside and get some fresh air.

Here's the question. If the ump calls Dave Roberts out at 2B in game 4 of the ALCS on a close play (which certainly could happen and is something completely out of their control) are the Red Sox a choking team? They would have been swept by their rivals and would have lost in the ALCS two years in a row.

How can you say that the best teams always advance when they rely on an umpires call of a bang bang play to not get swept?

Gross that prolly leads to another Cards title. I like the way that one ended. Strangly those guys who won 105 games coulnd't get it done in the playoffs. If only they had found away like the '06 guys.

I'd love to hear about what the 2003 Cubs had to do with the 2007 Cubs when they had exactly two players in common.

I didn't bring up the example.

Fox should play LF tomorrow. If he can play for an inning he can play a game.

Fox should be playing everyday somewhere at this point defense be damned. We need offense plain and simple

Yo, Arnold has opened my eyes

not only are the 06 Cards a great team, that perservered and won the World Series...

They are the best team of all time. Think about it, think about all that clutchness and amazing ability they had to cope with their lack of talent and goodness at baseball to win the World Series.

It was by their magic that they forced the Tigers pitching to commit errors like no other. It was by David Eckstein's grittiest grit grit that he gritted out doubles when fielders lost his pop ups in the lights.

They are the greatest team of all time

I know what you mean man. It pisses me off because the 86 Cubs, although they lost around 90 games, was a team of finishers too. An awful team if I've ever seen one but if they just found a way to get the MLB to let them play in the playoffs, I know they would have finished as champs. That's just the way they were.
