We are striking out at a very high rate recently. We arent making contact, we are making the pitchers we face hit season and career highs in k's everytime out right now.

And if we are it's a ground ball right at an IFer or a lazy fly ball.

It's up to you, Mikey-boy.

Let's Go Cubs!

You root for your team as you see fit and I'll do likewise.

Hold 'em here and make a big dramatic rally in the 8th!

It'd be nice if we could at least scratch a damn run across. What's the pitching matchup tomorrow?

Z vs Cy Young. At least we have our best hitter in the lineup.

I don't like to use this term, but if any team was "mentally weak", it's this Cubs team. They mirror their playoff chokiness. Don't they have the MLB record for nine straight playoff losses in a row? How does that not eventually permeate their psyche?

You should consider talking to somebody about your obsession with their recent playoff struggles.

You realize this is a Cubs forum and that is the team's biggest hurdle in recent years, right? I guess I'm just interested in the Cubs getting to the World Series. The Cubs playoff crapiness is the single most important issue in the context of a Cubs forum.

I don't think games from 2003 really have any impact on what is going on with the Cubs right now. It's really weird how I've seen quite a few posts by you and every single one of them seems to be associated with your perception of a mental hurdle surrounding the teams struggles in the playoffs. They are on the verge of going under .500 but you are worried about games played months and years ago.

Refresh my memory, was the 2006 team quite this hapless? Maybe its time to tank this season and get Bryce Harper.

No. Their pitching was much worse but they could score a few runs

edit: maybe not, 3rd worst in runs? It didn't seem that bad

Mike Fontenot as an everyday player was a bad idea from the get go.

He was never going to be an everyday player. Miles was brought in to play somewhat regularly.

Ok, that's an equally awful plan. If we were going to just platoon him we should have kept the guy who crushes lefties that we had.

And that makes a bad idea and even worse idea.

No they couldn't score runs, oh wait, you figured that out. I don't know how you could think it didn't seem that bad. It was awful.

The Cubs had scored 8 more runs at this point in 2006 while giving up 90 more
