I don't know how many games they will win, but watching this year's IU team it is obvious they are a lot more talented. Again, it probably wont show much in the W/L record, but they at least look they belong on the floor this year.

I think they'll steal a few more games than people think. They've really looked pretty good tonight and have been much more competitive this year than last. It helps when you don't have an unathletic midget playing a bunch of minutes at PG.

I think my favorite night of the basketball season will be January 5th when Iowa plays at Illinois. Because the football team is also playing in the Orange Bowl that night so I won't have to watch the Illini hang 80 on us in a 60 possession game.

Go Indiana Go!

I'm just glad they're playing a team that can't throw it in the ocean. Regardless, I agree with the earlier post that this would be a huge win- a name team on a neutral court. After last week's fadeout against Maryland, though, let's not count our chickens before they hatch.

So I'm thinking maybe Pitt isn't just going to finish in the top 4 in the Big East like it's their birthright as they've done in recent years. Resoundingly impressive win for IU.

Ya it'd be a big win. I don't like Indiana, but with Illinois losing to Bradley and Utah, they need the Big Ten to look as good as possible.

nice wire-to-wire win against a ranked opponent for illinois, they dominated.

Didnt get to see the game tonight as I was bowling, and the damn bowling alley I bowl at has no TV's that work at the lanes! Good to hear they won, they needed it.

Jeremiah Rivers isn't much better.

Ball State beat Valpo earlier this season so Purdue should smoke them as bad or worse than Buffalo but then again Valpo played tough with UNC. I don't know whether to expect a 10 point win or a 40 point win.

Whoa? Rivers isn't a world beater by any means, but Daniel Moore can't even carry his jock. Of course, that's much more of a slight against Moore than a compliment to Rivers. Thank God Moore didn't see the court last night. Hopefully that trend continues.

It was a really nice win for this team. I was impressed with their rebounding and physical play underneath. I will say, Pitt looked really bad.

Very impressive. I think it's the first complete game they've played all year. They had some lapses, but they were able to settle down and hit some shots. I'm starting to get worried about handling Mizzou's pressure, but then I remember it's Mizzou and I feel better.

If they can handle Mizzou's pressure the same way they handled Clemson's pressure in the second half, they should be fine.

If they handle Mizzou's pressure the same way they handled Clemson's pressure in the first half, they'll lose by 30.

And, just for kicks, early top 25 based on Sagarin's predictor (yes, they're Bayesian, so it's a little based on expected performance, and a lot based on actual performance):

1. Texas

2. Kansas

3. Duke

4. Syracuse

5. Tennessee

6. Ohio State

7. Memphis

8. West Virginia

9. Purdue

10. Missouri

11. Clemson

12. Minnesota

13. Kansas State

14. BYU

15. St. Mary's

16. Villanova

17. Michigan State

18. Wisconsin

19. Xavier

20. Mississippi

21. Georgetown

22. Florida

23. North Carolina

24. New Mexico

25. Marquette

I find it mostly interesting to see how long it takes Sagarin's ratings to straighten out. There are still some head scratchers, but many of the teams are settled in where they should be. It's also a little amusing to see who's missing from the top 25, as that indicates that at this time, they haven't been overly impressive in their wins or their schedule *cough* Kentucky *cough*. That isn't to say they're not good, just that they haven't done much yet.

Well Rivers is a way better defender, but the 2 of them just seem to have the same offensive gameplan of drive into the lane head down and then realize they can't shoot. Last year Indiana wouldn't have been close to Pitt, and it's not so much that the talent level is so much higher than last year, it's that sucking vortexes like Moore don't have to see the court due to lack of depth. I still don't think they'll do much in Big Ten season(though I may need to bump them ahead of Iowa), but they have the bodies where a loss won't be a foregone conclusion before they take the court.
