It's a new season, and I still hate Chris Kramer. Probably the most unlikeable Boiler since Brian [expletive] Cardinal.

That is all. Apologies for the wasted post.

They're are the type of players you love to have on your team and hate otherwise. They dive for every ball, play balls to the wall, are animated and push the rules defensively. Cardinal was much better though. Kramer is slightly better defensively but Cardinal was a great offensive player.

I would think people would hate Kramer more than Cardinal. Kramer whines a helluva lot more. Cardinal flopped, dove, etc., but he didn't piss and moan nearly as much when calls didn't go his way.

Got our tickets for the KU-Memphis and Arkansas-Louisville games here in St. Louis week after next.

Will be first KU game in awhile for me. Can't wait!

Cardinal never faked getting elbowed in the face to get a player ejected either.

While I completely agree that Kramer flopped big time on that play, he obviously did get hit (unless you want to make the case that the blood was caused from him hitting the floor). However, watching his reaction, you'd have thought he got shot. I have no problem with the hustle or trying to sell a call here and there. It's the constant whining when he doesn't get calls that bugs the crap out of me...even as a Purdue fan.

And the fact that he ALWAYS handchecks and never gets called for it.

Hahaha like I said I would hate him if he was on any other team but mine.

Part of my dislike of Kramer has to do with the fact that Chester Frazier did essentially the same exact thing on a less talented team, and got little or no credit for it. For some reason the national media loves Kramer. He is a great defensive player with actual talent around him, but Frazier was the defensive stopper on a team that could not score consistently. Because of this I think his value to Illinois last year was much higher than Kramer to Purdue. Maybe I'm just jealous, maybe I'm looking at it through orange colored glasses, or maybe I just have an irrational hatred for Kramer. I'm not sure which one it is.

BTW why did Purdue reach on Jay Simpson with all the talent in Indiana in 2012?

Why can't it be all three? :)

I loathe mugging for the refs. It's a big part of why I hated Hansbrough, a big part of why I hate Kramer and a huge part of what frustrated me about Luke Harangody last season, because he started doing it too.

i can't wait for this season to start!

i predict we get 11 wins.

It's not good when it's a near lock that the basketball team will get fewer wins in 18 games this year than the football team in 8.

Well I guess it is good for football at least.

I'm a bit confused by it too. I think it must be Painter thinks the guy fits his system so it doesn't matter if he isn't rated that high. This is my only complaint about Painter and it doesn't really bother me. I just wish he would go after more big name players. I think he can get them, especially right now with the team ranked so high. I think he is concentrating a little too much on Indiana talent. I'm fearful he will become what Gene Keady was. A guy who over the course of a season can put up a great performance but rarely can go on big win streaks and doesn't have the top level talent he needs to make Final Fours. I think Painter is capable of getting two or three top 100 recruits every year but he seems content to get the Indiana players in the 100-250 range that fit his system.

Illinois really struggled with Quincy in an exhibition game. They've finally pulled away some up 13 with 5 minutes and change, but it's a little disconcerting to see a shorter team out there and us just jacking up 3s all game. DJ Richardson is having a hell of a game according to the stats.

Illinois beat Quincy 84-63 tonight in its final tune-up before the regular season starts on the 13th.

DJ Richardson lead the Illini in scoring putting up 23, on 9-13 from the floor. Brandon Paul started over Legion and scored 11, while Legion added 12 off of the bench.
