I'm kinda suprised that Isiah would go after a guy IU had targeted.

 

Why?

I dunno, just thought he played for them and all. I know Roy Williams while at Kansas wouldn't touch guys that UNC was after.

 

yeah, that courtesy doesn't extend to KU now that he's at UNC. Grr.

I thought that courtesy only extended to Dean Smith and ended after Dean left.

No. He almost never recruited the same players as UNC. Basically, he refused to recruit the entire east coast, under the assumption it just wasn't possible to lure those kids away from home. I believe his words were "there were too many good schools to fly over between the east coast and KU." Of course, now that he's at UNC, anytime a star player pops up in our neighborhood, he's more than happy to jump in he mix.

I can pretty much assure everyone that IU -- and, for that matter, pretty much all the other big name teams "interested" in Ferguson according to Rivals/Scout/Ferguson('s handlers) -- had grown very lukewarm at best for various reasons. Upon hearing this information, I breathed a sigh of relief.

 

That said, best of luck to an Indiana boy and a former Hoosier down at FIU.

i heard a bit of a story on the radio about pitino and the mess he's in, like missing the season was a possibility. i'm at work and cant look it up. anyone hear anything?

Let's add the interesting details. He screwed a chick (who ended up marrying one of his basketball assistants) in a restaurant after it was closed while his executive assistant slept in one of the booths and apparently heard at least part of what was going on. Then, she called him several weeks later to let him know she was pregnant and it had to be his so he gave her $3000 to get an abortion after telling her that she would have to get DNA testing done if she wanted him to support the kid if she kept it. Then she accused him of raping her in the restaurant and later when they met about her being pregnant, and at the meeting the assistant she ended up marrying was there and according to her story didn't help when she screamed because Pitino was raping her.

 

I think she's believable, what about you?

One stinkin' game on ESPN/2 this year for NU, and that's a February home game against Iowa. Thanks a lot, ESPN.

 

Not quite the bad news as Rowley fracturing his foot, though...

U of I schedule was released today, and Id have to guess by the end of the year its top 10-15 in difficulty. Good to see. Should be able to start out 4-0 in Big Ten play, and could definitely see them at 9-1 in their 1st 10 games. Could easily be 15-0 in Non Con heading into the game vs Gonzaga.

I think we're better than Gonzaga.

 

I think we will be too, but I was just trying to break the schedule down in increments. By that point in the season, Id hope our freshman are starting to come into their own.

 

Man I hate that Mich St and Purdue back to back.
