We sit just over a week away from pitchers and catchers, and I can't recall a time where there has been more talent still sitting on the sidelines waiting for a contract. I would hope that Hendry could somehow be able to get some budget to buy low on a 5th starter, utility infielder, backup outfielder. So, who is on your wish list?

- A starter like Wolf, Looper or Pedro

- Hudson or Cabrera

- Nomar or Aurilla

- Edmonds or Alou

- Cruz or Isringhausen

At this point, I can't imagine any of these guys breaking the bank. Would they take less money for a chance at winning it all?

Try to sign some 3B backup (Aurilia, Mientkiewicz) for as little money as possible and sit on the rest for a midseason addition.

Completely agree. There might be some nice young players available because of the economic climates possible effects on small and mid level markets.

I'd offer Aurillia and Nomar both a 1 year deal for about 2mil. and whoever accepts first gets the backup 3B/1B/emergency SS/2B and primary pinch hitter role. I would then look into a minor league deal for Jennings, Mulder, Livan Hernandez, or Odalis Perez and invite one to ST to battle for the 5th spot/swingman and see if we can pull a Edmonds with one of them.

Why do I get the feeling that most on here want Nomar on the team so that they can wear their t-shirt jerseys again and not feel like they wasted their money the first time around?

My #5 jersey is nameless, so hopefully now that Cedeno is gone maybe an awesome player will take that number and I can wear it with pride

there aren't many guys i like out there but i do like juan cruz. however he will walk people and lou hates that.

Type A.

I don't think there's anyone out there who really fits very well. I'd bank it for a potential deal later in the year.

Trade for Mark DeRosa

What you think we have 3 mediocre minor leaguers lying around?

i suspect cleveland would very reasonably ask for more than that, unfortunately.

I might be willing to give them Aaron Miles - if they'd be willing to give us some minor leaguers in return.

Cruz would be great, but he would cost us a draft pick (that'swhy he hasn't been signed already). Aurilia or Nomar would make the most sense, but at a bargain deal. Another idea (but won't happen) is Ohman.
