  1. Keith Law just tweeted that "Cubs claim Luis Valbuena"
  2. OMG! Theo isn't signing any of the players that I wanted in his first month of the job! I'm going to piss and moan until 2014 because we signed Reed Johnson to a one year deal...
  3. In college, our 2B (a bit of a space case) turned around to give the number of outs to the outfielders. He kicked at some dirt like Castro and didn't get turned back around in time. The player fouled it off, but the coaches saw what had happened. Coach sent out a replacement before another pitch was thrown.
  4. There's no point in calling out the veterans that aren't going to be with the club in the future. He's letting his better players know that this level of play is not how teams win ball games. This is Quade trying to show the city of Chicago that he is still attempting to manage this team. It's only July, but I already want them to pull the plug on this season.
  5. Quade needs to find his groove like everybody else. Hopefully it doesn't take too long. That's not supposed to be something to be concerned with over the course of the season.
  6. is this serious? i hope not. that was one game. wow. I will take the liberty of assuring you, on Treeman's behalf, that this was sarcasm. thank you, i've seen more bizzare posts here. Especially in the trans thread. :? People (not necessarily in this case) decide that they dont like the idea of adding a player and try to convince everyone else that they're opinion is correct. As though that opinion matters...

  8. Sounds like those college Saturday mornings :P
  9. selig must go. I liked him for the longest time, but this is it. He took over in '92. Sure, the A's of the late 80's had made their run, but we all knew why. Then Selig was in full-force as he watched the '94 world series cancelled under his watch. He then stood, smiled, and applauded as McGwire and Sosa grew the game, the record books, and the owners' pockets. He then threw Bonds under the Balco bus and prayed that it was over. Now, he is saying the A-Rod and others "shamed the game" by using PEDs. Its on you, Bud. You messed up! You can't fix it, and now the entire baseball world is left to deal with the mess that you have left it in. Either stick to your guns or don't, man up! Do not pass the buck onto others. Resign. *edited for content CubColtPacer: It is not allowed to use asterisks to get around the word filter. I edited this post.
  10. orlando hudson. i don't like how we are sitting at 2B.
  11. if that player were truely worth 160 million, then that player shoud make that team into an instant playoff contender.
  12. sorry bud, didn't mean to ruin your day
  13. To clear some things up: Yes, we have a college and yes, we care about college sports, mostly hockey. Phil Jackson did play basketball at UND, but had not yet achieved Zen-master status. Meteorology as a fallback to creative writing? thought i'd heard everything.
  14. Nady will be playing RF next season. I am hoping he plays left and this means Damon is traded as well, LOL Wishful thinking I know. I can also see Swisher at 1B and no Tex. The Yanks can afford to buy their own equipment, they don't need to trade johnny damon for a bag of balls.
  15. watching the twins/yanks game, i just found another one. The rule where the baserunner is called out for running inside the baseline, in fair territory, on the way to first. The base is in fair territory. Our old buddy Brendan Harris was hit in the back by a throw from Rasner just before he came down on the bag with Giambi waiting to catch the ball, for no reason, positioned in foul territory. That rule bugs me and apparently Ron Coomer. P.S. Brian Runge just called Cano for being off the bag on a potential DP at second. Runge must have been on the site this morning.
  16. Fans telling players when they should retire People jumping to conclusions. Sosa is still not retired and hoping to be signed, much like Bonds. If unwanted, hang em up.
  17. players hanging on too late in their careers base coaches wearing helmets MLB removing footage of the Farnsworth fight from much of the net Omar Minaya media east coast bias back, back, back fans saying that Joe Morgan is the best 2B in history coaching boxes CB Buckner taking off his mask every chance he gets not celebrating the games legends until they are ready for the nursing home under-appreciation of Mark Grace by cubs fans
  18. I'm going to be going there in two weeks. I was wondering if anybody has any tips for the trip. I wanna take some nice photos to show my dad, that statues, monument park, etc. All I can think to do is to get there really early, anything else?
  19. I didn't see anyone mention it, but for the record: Aramis should have been called out when he made contact with Quade. Don't tweak out, I'm a life-long cubs fan, but that should have been the ruling. The 3B umpire missed that one.
  20. With every start his price goes up. CG on FSN North tongiht. Also, some people seem to need reminding: YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!
  21. people die from many things everyday. this turned out fine for everybody except for a fine and loss of licnese, LaRussa should undoubtably be fine and everyone else can breathe
  22. not to say that they aren't going to have to back a truck or two full of money up to his house, but it sounds to me like he is trying to cash in on the market as it sits right now. or maybe he is just bored and needed to run his mouth a little, which is uncharacteristic
  23. i think i recall something about Marmol also. I would rather not risk a young pitcher catching a foul tip and injuring anything. I was also not asking to throw a third catcher (Soto) on the roster, that is a waste of resources. I was just wondering if anyone had any real insight on what would happen if either Barret/Blanco was out of the game and the remaining one got injured what might happen. Being down to your final catcher happens several times every year, rarely do you need that emergency guy, but it is something that I'm sure Piniella will look at, that is his job, to be ready for situational decisions. yikes
  24. every year though we have that fifteen inning game where the thought starts to creep into your mind. I was hoping maybe a Derosa or maybe a Ward could do it.
  25. i haven't been able to find this anywhere, but since the offseason appears to be over with the exception of arbitration deals and such, I was trying to write up a 25-man. In the past we've had Macias, Nevin, and others who in a pinch could throw on the gear. Its always nice to know about people's extra skills. Do we have anybody like that this season? Edited for question mark in title
