I'll make the pick I guess, since there's still no sign of ELCABALLO.

The Pats don't have much depth at TE, as Ben Watson is in the final year of his deal and the only other TE on their roster is Chris Baker - a blocker, but not a receiver. Currently on the board is still a great receiving TE who should fit in well with the spread out Patriot offense. They think about taking a guard here, but the depth at that position is strong enough to wait on.

So, with the 47th pick in the draft, the Patriots select TE Jared Cook from South Carolina. His biggest drawbacks have been supposed lack of effort and not blocking well - the Pats don't care about the former and can correct the latter.

MPC and the Denver Broncos are now on the clock. I will PM him.

Not sure what's going to happen with the next couple picks, but I may or may not be able to make the Jets pick this weekend if they come back.

If I had to guess, I'd think you'll be up sometime Sunday - perhaps toward the evening hours.

MPC may take a while, he hasn't even logged in for a while. The Bears and Bucs picks should go quickly, though, and I don't think we'll have long hold ups with the Cowboys and Eagles either.

If you think you'll be gone, though, you can shoot me your top 3-5 selections and I'll announce the pick if the need is there.

denver will add another piece of their awful defense.

robert ayers de, tennesse.

Great pick MPC - and sorry for doubting your arrival. :)

no sweat, you were actually correct. "MPC" is an account newer account i had to open because my other one was frozen out for awhile. i signed up for the mock draft under that name. the one i'm using now is the original account and i just found it works again a week or two ago.

Potential targets:

RT Phil Loadholt, Oklahoma

DE Lawrence Sidbury, Richmond

G Herman Johnson, LSU

DE Paul Kruger, Utah

I think you can grab a DE in the 3rd round, so I'd go OL here. I'd have taken Ayers without a doubt if he fell one more pick.

Oh wow, I had no idea. I'll make sure to PM this account next time you're up then.

Weis PM'd me, saying he'd be out of town until Sunday and gave me a list of players he wanted. Seeing that the first player is still there, I'll go ahead and announce weis' pick.

So, with the 50th pick in the draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select QB from Kansas State, Josh Freeman.

IMB! and vance are now on the clock with Dallas' first pick. I'll PM them.

This year, I'm Stephen to IMB's Jerry, so I'm going to make my thoughts known here. IMB can check in and make the final decision, and if he goes AWOL, then I'll settle on a pick.

I see Dallas having a few needs coming into the draft. The could use a safety, offensive line help, linebacker, and defensive line. While many think they'll draft a receiver after trading TO, word out of the Ranch is that they like the young core of receivers behind Roy Williams. There's not a lot of starting spots up for grabs in Dallas, so they could also look at BPA, but probably wouldn't take a TE as they have depth there.

Looking at my board, Ron Brace might be a good selection here. He's a good sized DT. If the Cowboys think he's large enough to play in the middle of the 3-4, they could go with him.

Other possibilities at this spot could be Connor Brown, Paul Kruger, or Patrick Chung. For those who think the Cowboys should go with a WR, there's Robiskie; but I honestly think the Cowboys won't draft a receiver with this pick. I wouldn't either. I'd like to take an offensive lineman here, but I don't see any that justify picking them here.

I like that pick for the Bears. If the first day shaped up like this for the Bears, I'd be pretty pleased (although I am interested in possibly moving down a little from 18, depending on who's there).

I don't see Maclin actually being there.

I love Brace as a player, but I highly doubt we take a NT that high. With the Olshansky signing, Rat will be staying put at NT.

Yeah, but with the Cowboys cutting Tank, there's no depth at the position. That's true elsewhere too. I think the Cowboys likely take BPA and with the way this draft has gone, Brace maybe the BPA. It also allows Ratliff to move back outside if Spears leaves as a FA next offseason.

the eagles had trouble putting pressure on QBs without blitzing last season, especially against arizona, and could use a defensive end who has the ability to jump out of a swimming pool, so let's go with jarron gilbert, de, san jose st.

i'll pm goony.

Thanks for my pick dew. I figured I'd bump this back to the first page for those about to make a selection.
