That scouting report on Robiske, in my opinion, is exactly what the Bears need. They already have their major deep treat in Hester, so all they need is a reliable reciever that can catch passes for 1st downs and move the chains. I know talking about the Bears lack of WR is the popular thing to do right now, but with Olsen, Clark, and Forte they have some weapons on offense. Just find someone who is reliable, that can catch passes when thrown to him(im looking at you Rashied) and the offense will have some firepower, as long as the line holds up.

I'm starting to sour on Robiske a little. I like him. But I think I like Iglesias better. I think Iglesias is actually a better route runner and is great after the catch. The west coast offense needs guys who can make plays after the catch. It is predicated on short passes and west coast teams tend to get big yards by getting their WRs the ball in space. One thing I want to point out though is if people didn't want Harvin because he was too much like Hester.....I think Iglesias is a lot like Bennett. Similar size. Similar lack of blazing speed. Both produced in college.

Robiske will be a decent WR, but I don't think he is the best fit. Kenny Britt would easily be my #1 choice though of the guys who have a chance at being there at 49.

You phrased the response I was trying to formulate in my head. The Bears don't need a receiver who can go a few yards, catch the ball and fall down. They need guys who can get yards after catch, especially drafting on the first day. Olsen and Clark are two good guys for the get out there and catch a pass role. They don't need a WR to do the same thing. They need another guy who can be a weapon.

I'm getting antsy for this draft to start, already.

Wonder how antsy you are going to get sitting for 10 hours before the Bears first pick.

Ha..yeah...I was gonna say..not having a first round pick has me less than antsy.

I can shut it out until the afternoon :)

I just want to get past the speculation. I'm ready to know what we're actually going to be working with here (for the most part).

I'm looking forward to my... "what I would've done draft".

Yeah, I'm really hating losing that 3rd rounder now. The talent that would have been there at 80 is a lot better than the options will be at 99, especially at WR. I think they almost have to go WR at 49 at this point.

Still, I'll take Cutler 10 times out of 9.

Those type of guys are the 4 first round wrs. Maybe Nicks falls to the Bears, who knows. The only other guy that is a 1st day WR fitting this bill is Derrick Williams and he has size concerns. Britt is pretty good in open field not necessarily shaking and baking but he can run through tackles for YAC. I definetly seen better from OSU than Robiskie, he's not sexy but he runs the routes gets open down the field and has good size/speed, once he is touched yes he goes down. Holt isnt great shaking and baking or breaking tackles, he is really good because he is quick and can get open and catch the ball. Robiskie isnt as quick as Holt but getting open is important. If you cant get open having moves in the open field is worthless. Thats the knack/question on Harvin and could cause him to be a total bust.

They're forced to go with the best avail. option at WR left on the board, I looked at various positions, but I'm not sure what this draft is heavy or weak with based on positions but...

WR

D-Line

Secondary

Back-up HB

LB

O-line depth

For me, this is my order of importance.

The Bears resigned Kevin Jones...do they really need to waste a pick on a RB?

I hope they don't. They also still have Wolfe as a backup too.

Wolfe is worthless. Jones lessens the need, but he doesn't eliminate it. If they can get a talented guy in the 4th or 5th, there's no reason to pass it up. Backup RBs often play on special teams, and the Bears can use help there.

I cannot ever rank O-line depth that low. Plus, the Bears could still use a stud OG. Omiyale has never played there. Beekman, Garza, and Buenning are average players at best.

I'd rank them.

Another need is FB. Not that the Bears play a lot of the FB, but McKie is pretty horrible.

I agree on Britt. The fact that so many of us like him means that it's exponentially less like that Angelo would pick him if he's available.

There's always a good chance Britt won't be there at 49.

I think Beekman will become an above avg. OG and the rest will be suffice compared to other holes previously mentioned.

Kevin Jones and A. Peterson are well below avg. back-up HBs and aren't good enough to share any kind of workload with Forte.

Hopefully with Cutler, the need for better FB is even more diminished and as you said, they've never featured one to begin with.

Everyone says all these receivers are going to be gone. Don't WRs traditionally stick around on the boards a bit, especially after the first couple top guys go?

I mean, a wideout is going to touch the ball probably 5-8 times a game. Teams know that.

Last year, not a single receiver was taken in the first round. In 2007, there were 5 receivers taken in the first round. Then there was 1 taken in the first round in 2006 and then 6 WRs taken in the first round in 2005.

This year, however, teams seem to feel that this crop of receivers are better and more worthy first-round status.

There's not another position that has the potential to instantly score on offense quite like receiver, though - besides QB, obviously. That's why GMs and coaches love receivers - they can make big plays at a higher rate than other positions.

I really didn't think of this WR class as top-heavy though. More than it has quite a few acceptable prospects that are just below that top level. I was hoping (obviously, for selfish reasons) that this meant several would drop.

I mean I can certainly see Crabtree & Maclin getting snapped up quickly. Are all these other guys -- 5, 6 prospects down the line -- so good that they will all warrant being taken above 49? I'm having a hard believing that. We'll see if I'm just being stupid :)
