I think Ced really burned Angelo.

I would have loved to have seen Jerry's reaction to Benson crying when he was drafted. I was not happy about that one. It wasn't a "oh I'm so happy to have this dream fulfilled cry", it was a confused, pissed off cry.

oh, man. i remember watching that and just saying, "oh...no...." over and over again. that was horrible.

Wide receivers coach Darryl Drake put Oklahoma's Juaquin Iglesias through a private workout Tuesday in Iglesias' hometown of Killeen, Texas, and Drake will do the same with Georgia's Mohamed Massaquoi today in Athens, Ga. They're two of the players the team is targeting with its first pick -- now in the second round at No. 49 overall after the Cutler deal.

Other receivers believed to be in the mix at No. 49 are Ohio State's Brian Robiskie and Florida's Louis Murphy.

Apparently, Cutler gave Plaxico a call recently to gauge his interest in coming to the Bears.

No link, but it's been mentioned in a couple of articles the last few days.

There were many people who saw the Benson bust coming, based on his lack of burst, his lack of pass blocking ability, his lack of character displayed in college.

Yet Jerry still made the pick. Benson was a solid college player but the questions whether he would be able to translate at the next level were glaring, and substantial...

I'm still upset with that pick. Saw the bust coming a mile away. I was so mad that day.

I felt much the same way, but I wanted Mike Williams, so I'm an idiot too.

I still can't believe Mike Williams was such a bust. I was so pissed when the Bears passed on him.

Man, it would be really nice to see a talent at WR like Plax for the Bears, but I just dont know if Angelo would even consider it after the Tank fiasco.

Mossaquoi would be a nice pick for somebody in the 4th-5th round. He's got plenty of talent, but underachieved greatly at Georgia.

I wouldn't bet on him to be a star or anything, but I think the chances of him contributing are high enough to justify a mid-round pick. Second round would be way too high, though.

Yeah, I think he can contribute in a few years but he's certainly not 2nd round talent.

Nicks won't be available at #49 but i can hope.

Britt, Robiskie and Ilgesias are guys i like at that spot. I think these guys will compliment Hester on the other side. CBSsporsline has some lengthy scouting reports on players over at that site. These are snips.

Robiskie

Compares To: AMANI TOOMER, ex-New York Giant -- Like Toomer in his prime, Robiskie has learned to compensate for his one major shortcoming - a lack of blazing speed - with excellent hands, good body control and outstanding field vision. He is most effective on controlled routes, knowing he will never have the explosiveness to threaten the deep secondary. He is a good chain mover with solid blocking skills, a perfect complement for a team that already has its established deep threat and is looking for someone to keep defenses honest underneath.

Once he catches it he goes down, but with Cutler at qb im fine with that as his weakness. His pass catching and route running are his strenths.

Ilgesias

Compares To: BOBBY ENGRAM, Seattle (free agent) -- Iglesias is bigger and bulkier than Engram, but both have the versatility to fill in at quite a few roles for their respective teams. Like Engram, Iglesias is not going to win foot races based on pure speed, but he is an efficient route runner with natural hands. He started at flanker, but has experience in the slot, a position he could provide much better value, especially in a West Coast Offense.

That scouting report on Robiske, in my opinion, is exactly what the Bears need. They already have their major deep treat in Hester, so all they need is a reliable reciever that can catch passes for 1st downs and move the chains. I know talking about the Bears lack of WR is the popular thing to do right now, but with Olsen, Clark, and Forte they have some weapons on offense. Just find someone who is reliable, that can catch passes when thrown to him(im looking at you Rashied) and the offense will have some firepower, as long as the line holds up.

People keep talking about how the Bears have no weapons on offense though. I think they just don't know what they're talking about. We've actually had some weapons. WR depth has been a concern, but if that's the best they can do, then they might want to revise their statements.

Cutler will have targets to throw to. Clark, Olsen, Forte, Hester, new WR -- these are plenty of targets for a QB, all of them viable presuming whoever we pick up works out. Many teams don't have the TE options that Cutler will enjoy with the Bears. Many teams can't come close to having a versatile RB option out of the backfield like Forte. Just because you don't always throw deep to your WRs doesn't mean you don't have an offense.

I think the Bears offense was hindered by the fact that they had receivers who were good enough to succeed with a quality QB throwing to them and a QB who was good enough to succeed if he had a decent line and/or better receivers to throw to.

The improved line and significantly improved QB are going to make a fairly large difference this year, in my opinion. Those two things will make the Bears current receivers better.

Agreed. Although Booker definitely needed to be cut. I'd still be slightly interested in bringing Lloyd back if they can't upgrade with any other veterans.

Did you guys just copy what I said? :D

Well, yeah :)

I'd like to think of it as *agreeing* with you.

I'm starting to sour on Robiske a little. I like him. But I think I like Iglesias better. I think Iglesias is actually a better route runner and is great after the catch. The west coast offense needs guys who can make plays after the catch. It is predicated on short passes and west coast teams tend to get big yards by getting their WRs the ball in space. One thing I want to point out though is if people didn't want Harvin because he was too much like Hester.....I think Iglesias is a lot like Bennett. Similar size. Similar lack of blazing speed. Both produced in college.

Robiske will be a decent WR, but I don't think he is the best fit. Kenny Britt would easily be my #1 choice though of the guys who have a chance at being there at 49.
