Losing Gordon doesn't hurt Alabama, like not getting Tebow.

wait so you are saying that not getting tebow did not hurt alabama?

Not in the sense you are thinking. Shula put all of his eggs into one basket with Tebow. Shula spent a night on Tebow's lawn trying to convince him to come to Bama. I never believe Tebow was coming to Bama, but Shula thought he could get him to Bama, and thus he forgo go after after QB prospects. That's how Tebow hurt Bama, he kept Shula hanging on, like some desparate guy trying to hold onto a hot girlfriend.

I'd be looking forward to Florida losing so much more if Oklahoma would stop pretending to be victims before every single game they play. I think Bob Stoops must scour ESPN message boards for "OU sucks" posts and then tell the media about how they're playing with a chip on the shoulder because they, OKLAHOMA, aren't getting respect.

speaking of victims, i think we just intercepted chase daniel again

It's all slant routes and bubble screens, it's not that hard to figure out.

tim tebow contributed to the gators winning a national title in 2006, won the heisman trophy in 2007 (while alabama was playing .500 football) and then led them to a championship game appearance this year... a game they're playing in because they beat alabama in the sec title game as tebow threw 3 touchdowns. i'm pretty sure that missing out on tim tebow was very bad for alabama for more reasons than them not recruiting another qb that year.

by the way, auburn's administration is completely embarrassing itself by claiming they were shocked at tuberville's resignation and maintaining that they wanted him to stay. if you believe that auburn is paying him the $5.1M because it was the "right thing to do" then i have some beachfront property in arizona to sell you.

oh man, Florida losing this game is going to be the greatest thing ever

im pretty sure the fact that OU won't get three possessions in each quarter isn't really saying that ou sucks. it's just saying that the pace of the game is going to be a lot slower than your typical big xii game.

in fact, florida had just three games where they had more than eleven possessions the entire game. oklahoma had just two games where they had eleven or fewer possessions the entire game and five games where they had fifteen or more possessions the entire game. basically, the reason OU's offense scored more points was that they got the ball nearly about 20% more than the gators.

Oklahoma ran 1036 plays this season, gaining 7.1 yards per play. Florida ran 800 plays this season, gaining 7.2 yards per play.

I am going to ignore possessions at the end of halves that were just running the clock out...because well you're just running off excess water there. Florida had 142 possessions this season, in 13 games. Oklahoma had 175 possessions, in 13 games. Florida had games of 7, 9 and 9.

I guess this is the place for all College Football talk now....so

this is pretty bizarre. Top RB in state of Mississippi shot himself to death with a shotgun after being pulled over by a cop.

LUCEDALE High school football star Billy Joe Johnson died Monday from a single gunshot blast just moments after a George County deputy stopped him for an undisclosed traffic violation, the sheriff said.

He already had scholarship offers from major universities including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State and Oregon, according to Scout, a national football recruiting news source.

The deputy pulled over the 17-year-old Johnson about 6:30 a.m. on Miss. 26, in front of Benndale Carpets, according to Sheriff Garry Welford.

While sitting in his patrol car conducting a check on Johnson's driver's license, the deputy heard a gunshot, the sheriff said. The deputy saw Johnson on the ground near the driver's side door of the teen's vehicle.

A shotgun was lying on Johnson, the sheriff said.

"We're not sure what happened yet," the sheriff said at his office Monday. "Nothing's been ruled out."

Johnson rushed for 4,000 yards in three years.

Johnson helped George County to an appearance in the 5A state championships last year, where the team lost to South Panola High School, which until recently had the longest winning streak in the country with 89 straight wins.

"Coach they are PASSING the ball, is that even legal? why aren't they running it up the middle? what do we DO???"

Oh, Lord. What is the obsession with opponents trying to out-dbag Florida fan? Please stop. I'd really like to be able to cheer for someone in the MNC game.

Why the rush to claim the throne that RedFlash abdicated?

In some ways, I am glad the college football season is coming to an end. I mean I know I'm not the only "d-bag" on this site, but atleast I will admit to being a "d-bag."

Maybe, sanity will return to this board after January 8.

And Hosak, I wasn't holding the crown for "d-bag" there are a couple of posters who are clearly in the running. I won't mention them, but they know who they are, and they know they are as big of "d-bags" as I am.

Auburnsports.com has someone reporting from "2 confidential sources" that Turner Gill will be named the Head Coach at Auburn.

Great hire for Auburn, if indeed true.

I feel bad for Mike Leach if this is true. He badly wants back into the SEC and twice this offseason he's been a top candidate for top SEC jobs (UT and Aub).

The man's only never had a losing season at Texas Tech, you'd think that'd get him a better job.

sure it does. it means the average quality of play in the league is higher than the average quality of play in other leagues. im pretty sure im not the only one with my point of view.

I dont care for looking up more. My point is done.

This will be my last response on this, so sorry to rehash and old debate... but if you recall in my OP, I said that "numbers won't convince me that the ACC is the 2nd best conference", or something to that extent.

Look, to be an elite conference, you have to have at least 1 elite team. The ACC doesn't.

Lets pretend that the AL Central has 5 deceidedly average teams, the Twins, Tigers, Indians, Sox, and Royals. ALl of these teams are .500 or barely over, and none has more than 85 wins.

The AL East has the Red Sox and Rays at 100+ wins, and the Yankees have 95. The Jays and Orioles are bad teams.

Now, no one realistically considers any team from the AL Central to contend for a title, but no teams in the division are "awful". The AL East has 3 teams that are built for a push in the playoffs, but they have 2 "awful" teams.

Seems that by your reasoning the AL Central could be considered a more elite division than the AL East because they have less "awful" teams. And I don't buy it.

The ACC has ZERO elite teams (not even remotely close, actually), therefore, they are NOT an elite conference.

Thats my point, and that is all :D

The thing that makes the ACC somewhat unique this year is there aren't even any below average teams. The worst team in the conference is Duke, which is ranked 55th in the Sagarin predictors. NC State (59), Maryland (64), Virginia (51), Wake Forest (31), Miami (37), Boston College (27), North Carolina (24), Clemson (20), Georgia Tech (26), Virginia Tech (23) and Florida State (21) make up the rest of the conference.

Using the ELO ratings, the teams are even higher.

Comparing teams evenly top to bottom, or even weighted more to the middle of the conference, the ACC comes out really high overall this year. Sure, no top 10 teams, but all 12 teams are in the upper half of the FBS.
