can anyone give me a scouting report on Minnesota?

They won alot of games early do to turnovers. And alot of those teams were not that good.

QB Adam Weber is pretty decent. He is only a soph. but under pressure he usually does not play that well. Get pressure on him and you will have a field day on him.

Im not sure if he is playing but WR Eric Decker is a beast when healthy.

You should not have a problem scoring the ball.

i like the bowl games around christmas because im usually out of town at familys and its a good excuse to do something else for awhile, not that i dont love taking my cousins skating or something.

I don't have any extended family, so I'm usually at home throughout the bowls. Thus, I sit around at home (or at a buddy's house) and watch lots of college football.

They're usually interesting matchups you don't get to see too often - which is a bonus.

thats what i do on january first. man, college football wise 12/31 and 1/1 are consecutive days of great matchups. waiting until the 8th is such a drag though

I hate that I work both of those days because I'd love to sit around and watch games.

Work actually prohibits me from watching many of the games I want to. It sucks.

I have a HD Tivo and they just did a software update that allows me to watch Netflix movies streaming on my TV. I'm super excited about it. :yahoo:

and on the third day, Tim Tebow created Tivo.

One of many things I keep planning on getting.

Does it cost a monthly fee, or can I just buy it and hook it up?

If you get a DVR through your cable/satellite providor there is a monthly fee, but it is well worth it. I'm pretty much lost without it now.

unfortunately, being a graduate student, im not in a position to afford one. my parents have one though

I'm not computer savvy enough to know what that is, much less how to use it.

Well, crap. I hate monthly fees.

I think you can also buy it for one price. I know we did with our Dish DVR. We are getting a HDDVR now and that costs about 10 bucks a month.

There are not enough numbers in the world to tell me that the ACC was the #2 conference in the country this year. I actually watched the teams.

USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Penn State, Texas Tech, and Ohio State all probably go undefeated if they were in that conference.

If I get one, it'll have to be without monthly fees.

I usually try to watch a lot of the bowls too. I think last year I at least watched 10 minutes of all but about 3 or 4 bowls. Like dew, it's more about loving college football than anything.

now that most teams play a 12 game schedule, they need to bump the # of wins for bowl eligibility to 7. it's crazy that a team like Notre Dame can go to a bowl but end the year with a losing record
They'd need to reduce the number of bowl games for that to happen (I'm not saying that would be a bad thing). There just aren't enough teams with winning records to fill all the slots. I remember when playing in a bowl game was a reward for a GOOD season, not a mediocre season. My first year in college (1978) Ball State went 10-1 overall and undefeated in the MAC, but didn't go bowling because back then there were fewer than 20 bowl games and the MAC didn't even have one bowl tie-in.

yeah if there are .500 teams from the sun belt, wac and mac going to bowl games, then there is no way they can require teams to have 7 wins without dumping bowl games. i mean, THREE 6-6 teams got left out this year - you'd have to get rid of 4 or 5 bowl games simply because not enough teams would be eligible (i think there are 8 or 9 6-6 teams playing in bowls this year).

but florida lost to ole miss, penn state to iowa and usc to oregon state and the acc has teams as good as those teams, so they could lose in it.

Note where I wrote: "probably". Of course its a relative argument.

Still, those teams that lost to the teams you mentioned could've happened due to looking ahead to other tough games (Florida) or just looking past a good team after beating tough teams (Penn State, USC).

At any rate, just because you rank all of the ACC teams as mediocre (or barely above mediocre), that shouldn't mean its a tougher conference than the SEC or Big Ten because they have a (small) handful of below average teams.

Its just my opinion (and the rest of the straight thinking world) that you are wrong.

sure it does. it means the average quality of play in the league is higher than the average quality of play in other leagues. im pretty sure im not the only one with my point of view.
