Come on SI curse!!!

I predict a non-life threatening career ending injury. It's not like he'll have an NFL career anyway

Auburnsports.com has someone reporting from "2 confidential sources" that Turner Gill will be named the Head Coach at Auburn.

What a great hire. I like him more than everyone's favorite up-and-comer, Brian Kelly.

Nah, I think he'll have a 4-turnover game, only because of the SI curse.

ESPN Radio report says that Tebow is likely to win the Heisman this weekend

Thoughts? I think he should win it, but I'm sure there are haters

Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen is expected to be announced as the new Mississippi State head coach tomorrow. No word on if he will stay on to finish off the season. He's been with Meyer since before Florida in some capacity. Regardless it will be an interesting storyline. Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong ought to get a lot of looks at other vacancies and is probably gone too. He's not only an outstanding coach, but he's African-American so he may end up being a token interview who people like as well.

The big rumor before that announcement was that Oklahoma OC Kevin Wilson was going to take that job.

I'm pulling for Bradford. In my opinion he's the better quarterback, while Tebow is the better fullback.

EDIT: How is f-u-l-l-b-a-c-k blocked by the filter??? Is it a new swear word and I wasn't informed?

For some reason relating to the word starting with "f-u" and ending with "c-k," the censor blocks it .

For the PSU fans on the board:

Pet Devlin is transferring. Already left the program. What timing.

Clark and his concussion history going against perhaps the best Defense in the country. Who is the backup? Cinaciolo? Sheesh... I'd hope they just put Williams under Shipley the rest of the game.

ah crap, are you serious? I was afraid of this. Devlin is a better QB than Clark and was stuck in the depth chart behind Clark next year, leaving only his senior season for full playing time. This sucks

ETA: Clark is now the only eligible scholarship QB on the 2009 roster. brilliant

The whole business that Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford have produced more statistically than Tim Tebow is a load of crap. Anyone stupid enough to believe those arguments needs their head examined.

he's not better than clark. he's a better passer but clark can do a lot more as far as escaping sacks, running the sprint option and scrambling for yards. clark is a better all-around qb than michael robinson and seems to be a good fit with the style that galen hall has created. i wish they'd gotten devlin more reps, but realistically he was not going to play much, especially in big/close games.

i don't blame him for transferring, he'll get to play 2 years somewhere rather than just 1 year at penn state. i do blame the staff for not getting a viable option at qb last year, and this year's qb recruit doesn't look to be much of anything. they need to start looking for pretty good qb's who are stuck behind other guys right now, try to get them to transfer by next season (so they sit that one out) and then become the starter in 2010. it's either that or you're starting a true freshman or a crappy soph in 2010. as it is they're going to have a crappy true freshman as backup in 2009.

Colt and Sam are the ones playing in the title game, so it has to be one of them.

should've said a a better pure passer than Clark. Devlin is the classic tall, strong, pocket passer. Either way, sucks that he's leaving.

Guess it's a real crap shoot when you appoint a coordinator to an SEC head coaching job. On the one hand you have Mark Richt and on the other you have Ed Orgeron.

message board fodder suggests that he could be headed to u. of delaware so that he wouldn't sit out a year. makes a lot of sense - he's from eastern pa, delaware runs a pro-style offense and had bad qb's this year, and the blue hens just sent a first round qb to the nfl.

Mullen was an assistant at ND with Meyer. When Meyer when to Bowling Green Mullen came with him and was one of the 3 guys that created the foundation for Meyers spread offese.

Mullen and three assistants joined Meyer to visit Louisville and then Northwestern, Purdue and West Virginia, looking to blend ideas from each program after Meyer became Bowling Green's head coach in 2001. When all the coaches returned to Bowling Green, Ohio, they gathered in an office at Doyt Perry Stadium for a series of meetings over two weeks, diagramming concepts on a grease board and then converting it to computer.

"Obviously it was a very small foundation at that time," Mullen said, "that has grown into a very big house now, all the people that are running our style of offense."

The full article about Urbans offensive background and his spread offense. This site also has some other really cool articles about offenses.

Drake isn't recruited as a QB though. I know what you mean, if staff strikes out on Newsome (doubt it) or Boyd, then Drake stays a QB.

But we will definitely bring in at least 1 QB. Remember back to when Henne chose Michigan, staff scrambled for QBS and ended up with Clark, Morelli, Cianciolo, DiMichelle, and Suhey. Not all those guys ended up QB or even on the campus, but when they need to fill a depth chart, they will.

The problem is, how this changes the offense for next year. With a Freshman as the #2, Clark runs a whole lot less. Like, 0%. 5% only if he's scrambling.

Will Brackett move back to QB? I doubt it, but you never know..

yeah i am not too worried about them getting a few people who played qb in high school to show up, but will there be decent options? clark and devlin were good but cianciolo, dimichelle and suhey would have been awful choices. a 1-2 of cianciolo/suhey would make michigan's two headed monster of threet/sheridan actually look good.

the only upside to this is that maybe Paterno can land a star QB recruit with the promise that he'll more or less be THE GUY for 3 or 4 seasons at PSU
