And yet more bad response from Auburn writers over Chizik. WOW, if you follow the SEC or any conference for that matter, this guy has ZERO chance now at Auburn. You think Saban, Richt, Les Miles, etc won't kill this guy in recruiting? Auburn...welcome to competing with Miss St, So Miss and Troy for recruits!

I’m sorry. Was Dauber not available?

Chizik returns to Auburn five years after walking out on the Tigers to make a lateral move to Texas, a departure which was rife with acrimony. After leaving, Chizik had more than a few unflattering things to say about his former employer.

Hello. Was Gerry Faust not taking calls?

Chizik brings a 10-game losing streak to the Plains, part of his five total wins in two seasons as head coach at Iowa State.

Just curious, how did Lee Corso not make the cut?

The Texas Tech vs Boise State game was another blow out. Crab just went off against the Broncos. Crabtree caught touchdown passes early and often in this game. Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree hooked up 13 times for 202 yards and 4 touchdowns. Harrell finished the game 39 of 52 for 480 yards, 5 TDs but 4 INTs. That's too many INTs, again. He had four and Kellen had 2 himself. The Red Raiders rolled up 551 yards of total offense on 69 plays. Boise rolled up 312 on 54 plays, I guess that was fairly accurate. I still need to get the picks down for more accuracy. The final score ended 59-21 Red Raiders in a blowout.

Next up is Mizzou vs Penn State. Mizzou some how has a 94 overall offense. I have my doubts...

The boosters werent content with Tuberville making the program one of the top 10 to 15 programs in the country while he was there. They're going to be churning through about four or five coaches the next decade until they can fine a legitimate one. They've already screwed themselves for the next three or four years.

Ball State has abysmal facilities and abysmal pay. SDSU would offer better facilities, a better conference and an easier area of the country to recruit. And he'd be getting paid over twice as much as he is now.

Ball State needs to pony up.

I've decided to create a playoff and let NCAA Football 2009 sim it for us, while letting the games actually play out, not letting the sim engine in NCAA do it. The seedings are my own ranking system from the first page (more on this coming soon). The first round matchups are as follows, and the home field advantage goes to the higher seeded team with the exception of the FSU, UF game because I am [expletive]:

Who are the teams in your 50's and 60's Division?

Yeah, I see what he was doing now. D'oh.

Hoke's gone.

I'm so pissed off at our administration - Collins, Gora, the whole crew. He'll take Stan Parrish with him. Nate Davis is gone. Some of the recruits are probably gone. Hopefully Kelly Page, the QB-in-waiting, isn't.

I always knew it would never get better than this year, but I didn't think it would be this bad so soon after.

Don't blame them.

This is the first coaching change I can remember that both sides were unhappy with the outcome. Chizik left ISU in a bad place and no one at Auburn wants him. Now Auburn is stuck with him for a few years and Iowa State has to find someone who's willing to clean up the mess that's left here. I did find this pretty funny though, even if the source video is getting overused: Hitler on Chizik

Oh, and this:

From what I've heard, Chizik had a legitimate motive for leaving Auburn after the 2004 undefeated season. Chizik and Tuberville were not on good terms when Chizik left. Basically Chizik wanted more exposure. He wanted to have more access to the media after that season instead of just immediately after football games. He felt Tuberville was stifling his career so he could keep him as DC at AU.

Buffalo won 7 regular-season games and needed a hail mary miracle to beat Temple, but yeah, the ONLY reason not to hire Turner Gill is his blackness.

I'd go out on a limb and say that if a white coach had Turner Gill's current resume, he'd never have been interviewed at all for that job.

Gene Chizik was a horrible hire, but there had to be other reasons in play here, and Chizik's previous employment at Auburn was doubtless one of them.

buffalo might have been the worst program in i-a when gill got there; going 7-5 in his third year is a lot better than most people would have expected.

Turner Gill is ten times the coach that Gene Chizik will ever be.

While I'm not 100% certain Gill was the best candidate for the job, I agree completely with your statement.

Chizik was a terrible hire and Gill would have been worlds better.

I'm sure Gill's fine (heck, I'm sure he's better than fine), but at the moment, he is what Brady Hoke was last year (took a horrible program to a bowl), with the addendum that Buffalo managed to sneak out of a horrible division and beat us, which we didn't have the benefit of last year. And no one was clamoring for Hoke to get a big-time job.

Wasn't Hoke a darkhorse for Michigan? And Michigan's a much better job than Auburn.
