If Boyd wants to play in a pro style offense why doesn't Kiffin think he's a fit? Tennessee is going to run the most pro style offense in the conference, probably.

Boyd was still strongly committed to Tennessee. It was Kiffin who said he wouldn't fit the system.

So apparently, Fulmer's taste in QB's was nowhere close to Kiffin's. For the 2nd time in 2 weeks, Kiffin has told a committed QB that he still has a scholarship offer, but that he's not a fit for the offense. Bryce Petty will now look elsewhere.

Kiffin better know what he's doing or he's going to piss me off with this running off quarterbacks business.

It doesn't matter that he loves a QB that can enroll in 2010, we kind of need one now. I just hope he's right about Coleman, or else we'll likely suck for the next couple of years (and Kiffin will then be on the hot seat).

According to Auburn's Rivals site, Will Muschamp will be named head coach on Friday.

According to Tennessee's Rivals site, former OC Dave Clawson is the new head coach at Bowling Green.

There are now reports that Muschamp hasn't interviewed and isn't interested in the Auburn job. Who knows there.

And that's great news for Clawson. I'm surprised that he was able to get a 1A coaching job, I figured he'd have to take a 1AA job for a couple of years.

Been confirmed by Iowa State that Gene Chizik interviewed for the Auburn job.

Yeah, that was unexpected. I would assume his 5 wins over the last 2 years would take him out of serious consideration. I don't think he a bad coach, and losing him now would be bad for the program, but in retrospect I wish the Brian Kelly to ISU reports were true.

He's a great D-Coach, though I am not sure about head coach. Though turning Iowa State into a contender is hard even if in the Big 12 North.

Where's Andy?

Ball State coach Brady Hoke, UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker and former Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione are the finalists for the SDSU head coaching job.

As it happens, the editor for the paper I'm freelancing for is an SDSU grad, so he's told me about this. I don't see Hoke leaving unless Nate Davis does. Davis already said he's staying.

That said, I have to think Walker is the favorite anyway. He'd be a great hire for SDSU.

It'd be a horrible job for either of them. Hoke is better off at Ball State, at least for now. Walker should be able to find a better head coaching job than SDSU. SDSU just does not support their head coaches and football program these days. On the flip side, Walker would be able to recruit LA pretty well, a recruiting base that has run dry for San Diego State in the past decade.

****. So I'm watching ISU transfer Shawn Taggart have a great game for Memphis and the Des Moines CBS station runs a scroll at the bottom of the screen confirming Chizik has taken the Auburn job.

Sam McGuffie has decided to transfer from Michigan. Can't say I'm gonna miss the little guy that much.

man, isu athletics are in the toilet. with chizik leaving they have to be one of the biggest messes in college football.

i knew chizik would use this job as a stepping stone, but i thought it would a) take longer than two years and b) come with a little success. oops.

i havent followed michigan that much this year, but why and where is he going? he seems like a good back for a spread offense

Auburn fans have to be pisssssed.

Strange hire. Usually when someone moves up in a position it is because they've succeeded in a lesser one. Given Auburn's offensive ineptitude, seems like Mullen would have been a good choice.

Sounds like he's headed back to the Texas area. Probably plays for A&M. It seems that he has pretty bad family issues and is basically raising his younger brother at this point. That's why he's headed back home.

He's too small to be a running back, no matter what the system. He had 3 concussions this past season with U of M with some other nagging injuries. He got beat up pretty good this season.

Pretty sure this was from before he was hired, but yeah they aren't too happy.

You're right. I'm pissed. Jacobs managed this whole process poorly.

...but the ISU writers are downright jubilent. HOLY CRAP! This writer really disliked the new Auburn coach!

That writer is an absolute joke. He will do whatever it takes to make himself and ISU look better.
