Just out of morbid curiosity, would the O's consider trading Markakis, and if so would we need to give up more than we would've given up for Peavy to get him?

Just curious for some opinions

No. Yes.

Definitely not. He's the definition of untouchable for the O's.

If Tampa called and said they would trade David Price straight up for him I am sure the O's would do it.

Well of course there's exceptions, but they wouldn't take our garbage for him.

FWIW, Tim Dierkes just answered my--I mean Milton Bradley's question on the mlbtraderumors chat:

[Comment From Milton Bradley]

Rays or Cubs, and when?

2:27 I will go with Cubs, by the end of the year.

100% no. and if they did, it wouldnt be to us

And if they would trade him to us, by the time AM decided to agree to the deal Markakis would be 38 years old and ready to retire.

I saw that.

Not that what he says really matters. He's just speculating and going off stuff we've all heard.

Agreed. Nonetheless, it's always satisfying to get a response, considering how many questions I tend to ask.

Latest from Rosenthal:

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8980832/Angels-standing-pat-on-offense-...-for-now

The Cubs are confident of signing free-agent designated hitter Milton Bradley, but a number of teams remain interested in the free-agent designated hitter, including the Rays, Yankees and Nationals. The Yankees, as is their custom, are touching base with virtually every available offensive player.

The market for hitters is slow, but not dormant. Some teams are adjusting their plans almost daily because of anticipated shifts in the market as well as payroll concerns. A number of salary slots also could open with trades.

I kind of like that he goes out of his way twice to say an NL club is looking to sign a DH.

With the Yanks signing Tex, would you rather sign Bradley or trade for Swisher or Matsui?

Forget the Dunn stuff, that doesn't appear to be an option the Cubs are considering.

I'd take Bradley, but I'm not thrilled with the possibility.

I would be interested in Swisher if the price was right. I have no interest in Matsui he's old, expensive, and breaking down. I would rather have Bradley than Swisher but if we could get Swisher for a Marquis+ deal I would consider it. I wonder if the Yanks would consider a Derosa/Marquis/+ for Cano/Swisher/+ deal? We get a RF and Lefthanded bat, both had down years last year but Swisher/Cano could be solid additions to the lineup.

Depending on the "+'s", why would the Yankees do that deal? It seems very Cub friendly.

I doubt it. Seems like they severely overvalue their players. They'd probably ask for Upton too

This may be true, but an argument can be made that Tampa overvalues theirs even more. And probably for good reason.
