I like Bradley. I like players that play with passion because you know they care. Let's just hope he can stay healthy for us.

Let's just hope he doesn't make an error in RF while Z is pitching. That could be a disaster.

Z would give him a black guy.

Have at it, fans of fine licensed merchandise.

I like this guy. He did seem a bit uncomfortable answering some of the harder hitting questions, but overall he gave the answers I wanted to hear. I remember reading an ESPN the Mag article circa 2005ish and I really liked what I read about him and how misunderstood he can be. Obviously some of his actions have come across rather loudly, but outside of those major incidents, I've heard and read nothing but good things.

:-))

Despite that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the show?

Yeah, he's not misunderstood. He's a loon. But he can be a successful loon if he stays somewhat healthy.

Is he wearing a really gaudy bracelet and a rubber band?

Thankfully he only had to pass a physical and not a mental test.

Yeah, saw that too. Probably a ref to T.I.'s song "Rubber Band Man" which encourages people to wear a rubber band after becoming wealthy to remind them of the struggle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Hendry have some heart problems in the past?

He looks like he's put 20 pounds on top of however much he was overweight to begin with. He should maybe hit the salad bar for a while.

He looks a little chubby in the picture where he's putting on his jersey.

Awesome... it's months from spring training and we're already commenting on a player's weight.

Just messin with you UM

I was thinking the same thing; Hendry definitely looked more healthy last off-season.

"You can't wear 42 anymore," Bradley said of the number officially retired by Major League Baseball in honor of Jackie Robinson. "I've always said, 21 is half of 42. If I could be half the player, half the person Jackie Robinson was, then I will have been a success."

Nice.

Also, a little contract insight:

The contract will pay Bradley $5 million the first year, plus half of a $4 million signing bonus -- the other half will be paid in 2010. It also includes incentives related to games played.

Good quotes:

"I try my best not to get emotional," Bradley said moments after being introduced as Chicago's latest free-agent acquisition. "I didn't call my mom to tell her [about the contract]. I wanted her to find out by watching TV. She called and left me a message, and I've played it back several times and you can hear her voice cracking.

"My mom worked 35 years as a grocery clerk," Bradley said, then paused as tears rolled down his cheeks. "Thirty-five years. She was finally able to retire a few years back. It's just a tremendous blessing."

The Cubs hope they have finally found the right man, signing the switch-hitting Bradley to a three-year, $30 million contract. General manager Jim Hendry said he felt Bradley was the perfect fit after the two dined in early November.

"As we left the restaurant and stood on the curb waiting for the driver ... [bradley] said, 'I know it's going to take some time and you have some work to do, but I want to be a Chicago Cub if you want me,'" Hendry said.

"I knew when I left that restaurant that night that he was our guy."
