Derrick Rose

Kinda good.

Derrick Rose is the new Geovany Soto.

That's really what I was going for. Stupid Jon.

Games like this can get me to really start liking this team. Sadly, the Bulls would be a lot better if Larry Hughes gets a season ending injury. He's pretty pointless right now. He's shot 30% from the field in preseason and 8%, yes 8 from 3. He's not a good passer or defender.

Del Negro will be well served to get Hughes and Hinrich out of key spots in the rotation as soon as possible. Hinrich will probably be the de facto starter, but Rose, Gordon, Thabo should play about 80 of the 96 guard minutes whenever possible. The front court should be serviceable enough with Deng, Noc, Tyrus, Noah, Gooden and Gray.

Once you start sitting Hughes, he'll start being disruptive (from what I've seen of his history)...

I think we should be looking to get rid of him.

I just sent an email to the creator of that site:

Dear sir,

Please relinquish control of your awesome website to Chicago Bulls fans like myself. I realize you do not like the Bulls and to be honest, I am not too fond of the LeBron’s either. But man this thing is bigger than Chicago and Cleveland’s respective NBA franchises. You and I and every Bulls, Cavs, Wizards, Sixers and Warriors fan know what a curse having Larry Hughes is on your favorite team. There are fans of 25 other NBA teams that need to not make the same mistake we did.

Think of doing this for the good of mankind. The economy is slumping, gas prices are high, typhoid fever is making a comeback (ok I made the last one up). The last thing fans need is Larry Hughes ruining their favorite NBA franchise with his horrible shot selection, disrupting attitude, and ridiculous sense of entitlement. Fans are drawn to the NBA for entertainment, a way to escape from the stresses in their everyday lives. Larry Hughes is ANTI-entertainment. Just last night during a freaking preseason game, I threw my shoe at the TV watching Larry Hughes dribble around the court for 15 seconds before jacking up an airball with a hand in his face. You remember the first time you picked up a basketball video game and you had no idea how to run plays, so you just gave the ball to your shooter and you ran around the court aimlessly until a defender was far enough away and then you jacked up a shot? THAT IS LARRY HUGHES!

This needs to be brought to the attention of the world, so that no NBA team will ever decide to give him any money to play basketball ever again. Please consider my plea for the betterment of mankind.

Respectfully,

Larry Hughes Hater

It looks like we finally have a franchise player.

Yeah, although I still think he has some growing pains this year. Playing point guard as a rookie in the nba isn't easy.

His arms look much bigger than I remember. Offseason workouts? Whatever it is, the kid looks like he can handle the NBA pounding.

Out 6 weeks too. I don't wish injury on anyone, but this really helps our guard glut. It's going to be hard to work Hughes back into the rotation in December.

Makes things a lot easier agreed, bad to wish harm on anyone, but this is one where it doesn't hurt the team at all.

Hughes getting injured is a plus for the team. If I was in charge of the Bulls I would pay Hughes to stay home and not come back. I would not buy him out though because in 2 years we would have a HUGE amount of money to spend on a top tier FA.

Wow. Ask and ye shall receive! I actually liked the trade to get Hughes (because of Gooden and getting rid of Ben Wallace). Starting the season without Hughes can be good. Despite what I said earlier in this thread, I don't wish him gone for the year. I think he can help the team when he gets back, hopefully as a role player not as a guy counted on for double digits scoring.

While team officials still aren't ruling out a six-week absence, Larry Hughes said the initial MRI on his dislocated right shoulder went well and he doesn't expect to be out that long.

"It's really weird that it's not bothering me as much as it should or nothing's really showing up," Hughes said Thursday. "It's shocking to our doctors what's really going on or why nothing's really showing up. But right now, it's just kind of sore and it feels like I need a couple days rest."

Coach Vinny Del Negro painted a more pessimistic picture. A second MRI exam that involves injecting dye into the injured area is scheduled to be performed on Friday and a more definitive answer on Hughes' absence will be available then.

This is deflating to hear. I really hope it's a case of severe wishful thinking. Of course this would wind up being some kind of miracle recovery. Why wouldn't it be?

I don't wish injury on any player, but Hughes being sidelined sure was convenient.

If he can be out long enough for which Thabo can develop a nice consistancy (I know a big if) and earniong VDN trust, then when he does come back Hughes won't be taking anybody minutes. I will maintain that Thabo should be the starting 2 guard, and HInrich the backup PG, but it wouldn't surprise me if Rose/Hinrich or Gordon is the starting backcourt.
