ugggh..I already can't stand Del Negro. He looked like a spectator at a golf tournment last night. Dudes a stiff. It was a huge mistake to let Skiles go.

I tried to say this was a bad idea and got smacked down for it. We'll see. I'm trying to give him a chance, be the good Bulls fan.

It's hard. I don't like him. He'll have to prove it to me with actual wins.

I like him. I've read some good quotes about him and his philosophies. Gotta give him some time to adjust to coaching. It might take this team the entire season to get them playing the way he wants it to, or it might click right away on October 28th. There aren't too many Bulls fans that will be demanding a run in the playoffs this year, although if this team is where most think it is, they should be able to grab a playoff spot.

Don't mistake a bad hire for a bad fire. Skiles needed to leave.

Yeah Skiles was to nuts....Now Del Negro might be to relaxed

Since when is Jerry Reinsdorf considered a cheap owner?

wtf

I just think they wanted to hire Del Negro because the team is still young and they should put an inexperienced coach with them I think the reason they didn't get a guy like Pringles is he's more experienced and why waste him having a .500 team for the next year or two....I think it had nothing to do with money

I would list some examples, but I honestly forget which stories are true and which stories were unconfirmed rumors, but lets just say that JR has a unhealthy fear of exceeding the luxury tax. Which is fair, but a lot of teams have had to go over the lux tax to be successful.

I think he'd exceed it if it meant having a legitimate title contender. I think he would've exceeded it without thinking twice for the 90's Bulls had this system been in place. The stories that we didn't get Kobe because of the luxury tax are at best unsubstantiated, as far as I know, and, IMO, a bunch of crap.

Why is being 47th, 55th and 27th in three years in a row in FTM/game so horrible for a 6'1" guard is what I want to know. I think that's pretty damn good in a league where most teams still have three-man frontcourts.

It adds into a whole spectrum of issues with Gordon. He's a 43% career shooter from the field who doesn't drive to the hoop often enough to get to the line and get the other team in foul trouble (in Gordon's defense, this isn't limited to him on this team, but when he has many things going against him and he is looking for a huge payday, its going to be scrutinized). His one skill (scoring and shooting) is probably the easiest to find in the league and Gordon is looking for franchise player money. He is not a franchise player by any stretch of the imagination and his inability to get to the line on a more consistent basis is another hindrance for him.

I didn't say we need to give him franchise money. I'm just saying that of all the issues with Gordon it seems like those league rankings in free throws made - which, again, seems pretty good for a guard - are not among the highest ones.

It's not that he doesn't drive, either, it's that when he does he tends to avoid contact via that teardrop shot or other means.

That's the problem. You are categorizing him as a 6'1'' guard to justify his statistical rank. Being 6'1'' limits him from being a dominant guard. If he was 6'6'' he'd have multiple All Star appearances right now. Even 6'4'' he'd be a borderline star. As it is, he is a role player who can score points well and do almost everything else average to below average.

Admittedly I don't see as many Bulls game as you Chicago guys but I never thought Gordon's lack of easy baskets/FT opportunities was because he's hesitant to drive. From what I've seen, he's effective at getting into the lane but not at finishing around the basket. He gets rejected or his shot altered too much.

It's frustrating because he's a good athlete and can break a man down off the dribble--he's just lacks the vision/creativity of a Paul or Nash or the finishing ability of a TOny Parker. When he penetrates the offense bogs down too much.

For those of you with DirecTV, you should be able to watch tonight's game on channel 752. It's a League Pass preview and isn't blacked out for me.

Derrick Rose is the real freaking deal.

He was just going at it with Williams tonight.

That said, he had a hard time with Williams on the other end, but who doesn't?

The simple fact is that Ben Gordon is not quick enough off the dribble to get to the basket consistently in the NBA. I don't think its vision, its just speed. He does that two footed hop, only wants to go right, and gets swatted whenever he tries to create his own shot off the dribble.

I'm fine letting him go. He's a good 6th man option for a team that needs scoring off the bench. He's more of a Vinny Johnson type player than anything that resembles a franchise player. I wouldn't mind keeping him, but its the right thing letting him go with the backcourt glut and the money he wants.

There is a reson all the guys you listed are all stars and in the top 5 players at their position in the league. Gordon was fine when we had a good point guard beside him, last year Hinrich was god awful and as a result Gordon's game struggled. If Rose is given the chance to go right away this year, Gordon should see his game go back up to where it was.

The guy I really want to see take the next step is Deng, if he becomes the all star a lot think he can the Bulls will have a very good team again.
