Thabo is garbage.

No he most certaintly is not. If VDN gives Thabo plenty of burn on the court, Thabo can be the next Bruce Bowen/James Posey type player with better offensive talent. This kid got some good talent, so he most certaintly is not garbage.

seems unlikely that he'd just be "okay" after that injury. I've dislocated my shoulder twice and it was sore for weeks. Granted, I didn't have a full time training staff treating it every day....

i envision thabo as a doug christie type player if he reaches his potential.

I could see that, but I see him averaging more points per game then Christie did in his career (11 ppg). Other then that yeah Thabo should fit into that Bowen/Christie/Posey type player, but only if VDN gives his plenty of run while Hughes is out.

Christie could have scored more was he not on a team with a lot of good scorers for the bulk of his prime in Sactown. 20 were going to Weber, 20 to Peja, 18 to Bibby, 15 to Miller, and with Turk of the bench there wasn't a need for him to score a lot.

I know Bruce Bowen loves shooting the corner shot, but IDK about Christie.

Yeah, Doug Christie loved him some corner Js. He's a pretty good comparison to Thabo. I don't think Thabo could necessarily put up much more than 11 ppg, but with good defense, he won't need to.

IDK, playing with a playmaking PG like Rose could give Thabo more the enough opportunities to be a 13-15 ppg kind of player. Not saying he would, but playing with Rose you can't write it off.

It's just too bad we'll have to see more Kirk Hinrich on the court now that Hughes is out. Ugh.

I don't like Kirk. At all.

That said, I'd still rather see him out there than Hughes. Hughes is absolutely terrible and has no redeeming qualities. Of course he's going to go off for 20 pts now and then. How can you not when you shoot that much?

Agreed and I think Hinrich bounces back a bit this year. He was not as bad as he played last year.

Rose with a right hip flexor injury. :(

I was at a bar tonight and got scared crapless when I saw his injury on the TV. Hopefully he'll be ready for Tuesday.

i blame every a hole here that was sooo excited about Rose for this injury.

Hey now... Who here wouldn't have been quietly (if not outwardly) cheering for an Estes injury in 03?

"The guy's a star," said Skiles, not prone to hyperbole. "He's beyond quick and fast, and he's so powerful. He can go to the rim and finish. He has unique shots in the paint that he makes — floaters, runners. And that doesn't even mention that he sees the floor and passes the ball. He's going to be very hard to handle."

Thabo started, played nearly 50 minutes and put up 18 points, 7 rebs, and 10 assists. Any reason Tyrus only played 3 minutes off the bench? Hinrich and Noc had big scoring games.

Tyrus had like 4 fouls in the almost 4 minutes he played.

Obligatory "Rose would absolutely never see the floor if Skiles was coaching" comment

If anyone wants to go to the opener on Tuesday I have 2 tickets that I can't use. They are the cheap $10 seats. I paid $36 for them, but would take less if necessary. Send me an offer.

Figured I'd go with something similar to the Blackhawks thread on this one.

Don't have much to say on this game. I'll be in attendance (in the $10 seats). Look for rookie Derrick Rose to continue his aggressive approach on offense from the end of the preseason and light it up in his debut against Luke Ridnour.

Gordon is likely to play (but not start) and should provide a boost to our offense, as nobody outside of Nocioni was able to get much going from outside in the preseason.
