Gammons picked the Dodgers last night on SportsCenter. It should be a good series.

 

I'm curious, what was his rationale?

 

Actually, if you click the link there, there's a video for "BBTN: Dodgers-Cubs Preview" in their video playlist. But to spoil it anyway, he doesn't know what we're going to get out of Z and Harden, and he likes Lowe, Billingsly, and the dodger bullpen against our RH-heavy lineup.

We're OPSing .793 against righties and .807 against lefties. I don't think having an RH-heavy lineup will be the deal breaker.

Really hard to tell w/ LA, because their likely starters haven't played together this year thanks to Furcal's injury and the Blake and Ramirez additions.

 

It sounds like Dewitt will be starting over Kent (that seems like the consensus around here). I think Kemp might bat second, they liked him leading off and batting 2nd, esp with Martin slumping in September.

Seriously, Lou can't let Manny beat us. After him they have a bunch of good-but-not-great .800ish OPS hitters and they're all young and inexperienced. Put the pressure on them and make them beat us.

 

I'm down with this idea, but you know what's another keen idea........how about constantly be up by 4 or more runs every time Manny is up.

 

Bases loaded in the 9th with 2 out and Cubs up by 4? Walk him.

Cubs will make Lowe throw a lot of pitches in the first, maybe a single and 2 walks before DeRo hits a 2 run single and the Cubs take a 2-0 lead. Cubs tack on another run somewhere in the game, but Lowe pretty much settles in and dominates the Cubs for 7 innings.

 

Zambrano will give it his all and be good Z until around the 6th, when he'll tire and quickly lose his control. The Dodgers will score a pair to make it 3-2.

 

From there, the Cubs and Dodgers respective bullpens will do their jobs, and Kerry Wood will close the game with a stressful 9th inning (multiple runners on base).

 

How's that for a detailed prediction?

Those of you going to Wrigley or the vicinity of Wednesday... anybody interested in gathering up prior? I am coming from the St. Louis area and should get there around 10:30-11:00 and will be ready to get roudy!
