will do!

As one of the few people that somewhat follows both sides of town, I'd rather listen to a game than the radio/IPod, I enjoy the pre and post game shows as well as your patience with the callers after a loss.

OK Reds, lets get that magic number down to 1 so all we need to do is worry about winning tomorrow and then we can celebrate on the field and do all that fun stuff.

Yeah...my name is Tim Bock. I'm actually the executive producer of the White Sox, even though I'm a Cubs fan. (I like the paycheck) I've been a producer here since 2003.

Oh nice, welcome to the board! Tell Boers and Bernstein they are awesome, even though I'm probably the heavy minority on the board :)

You're not alone, fitness friend.

Why did I have to leave the audio on while I went into the other room? Why do I get excited when the Cubs pull to within 6?

So as to not disrupt, I'll go back into the living room and continue watching Deja Vu. (For the record, I was in the living room watching TV starting in the top of the 9th last night.)

I listen to the pre/post shows occasionally too. Every team has their crazy fans, but the Sox seem to have the worst of them. I think in order it goes 1. Sox 2. Bears/Cubs 4. Bulls

They're not really crazy as they get just as irrational as any other fanbase, but maybe it's cause I don't get the city rivalry, but when comparisons divert to the Cubs (beyond the 6 games they actually face other) I don't understand how comparing a Sox loss to anything with the Cubs good or bad accomplishes anything.

Fwiw, Bears fans are the worst especially with back-up QBs.

I wasn't able to follow today's game at all after the 1st inning...

Anything important happen or anything I should know, other than we got our asses kicked?

Z sucked (possibly because his grandmother died), and there was absolutely no drama in the game after the 2nd inning.

Eh, just one of those games. Let's get em tomorrow.

And man, what's Z's ERA vs the Cards this season? 8?

I don't see how anyone could say that Bears fans aren't the worst in the city. It's not even close. Between the idiots that call into shows complaining about "fire and passion" and crap like that, and the ones who think Rex Grossman sucks and raped their dog, and the ones who think Lovie Smith needs to be more like Ditka, and talk with authority about the game and preface their statements by saying "I've been a fan since 1951" or "I played left guard in pop warner and Garza is playing too upright", it's a complete orgy of idiocy.

Baseball fans on both sides of town have their Morgan-esque tendencies, but every moron has an opinion on football.

I'm kind of happy with today's result for a couple of reasons.

A) We can't possibly clinch tonight, which would have sucked. If they clinched tonight we wouldn't have even gotten a clubhouse celebration because the players wouldn't be staying at the clubhouse to watch the Brewers game. We may not clinch on the field, but at least we'll get a celebration now.

B) Zambrano only threw 45 pitches today. That is a good thing.

The ideal situation would be to clinch on that last home game of the season on Sunday, which is a distinct possibility.

The Cubs wouldn't like that, they have to leave for NY.

What's this all about?

Zambrano (14-6) tried to come off the mound early when Piniella yanked him. The manager wouldn't allow it, and Zambrano gestured toward him before handing over the ball on the way to the dugout.

While I enjoy B and B on the way home from work, more often than not, it feels like Im listening to a comedy routine than sports discussion.

Hell, send Casey McGhee and company to New York and then the starters the next day.

The only thing left in this game to root for to happen is for the Cubs to score about 5-6 runs, just so TLR has to used several relievers in this game.

Which is exactly what happened, good job Tony La Russa!

I see that. What's even better is that Lou used pitchers who shouldn't (Howry) or won't be (Weurtz/Hart/Guzman)

carried on the postseason roster. The only pitcher who is likely to be on the postseason---Sean Marshall---pitched early in the game. Otherwise, I thought Lou made a conscious effort to make sure to give his "trusted" arms a day off (Wood/Marmol/Shark---I think Lou still trusts him) in a game he that didn't need any of them. As for Howry, I realize he will be on the roster, but I am hoping Gaudin will return and pitch well enough along with Cotts and Marshall, that Piniella will be forced to leave Howry off the postseason.

12.75 http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif. Before this game, it was 7.84, however.

I'm now 1-1 as a game thread starter. :(

They should let Marshall make Z's next start and Wells make Harden's next start and push each of those guys back one game. They will still be ready to pitch in rotation for the playoffs but it would give them an extra rest.

Lilly vs Cards

Dempster vs Cards

Marquis @ Mets

Wells @ Mets

Marshall @ Mets

Harden @ Mets

Zambrano @ Brewers

Lilly @ Brewers

Marquis @ Brewers

That's how I would finish out the season with the rotation. You can then start Dempster or Harden in game 1 of the NLDS and go from there.
