Ugh, so Soto's out because of an injury?

Awesome

Day to day, I don't think it's anything serious. Just a bit of a hand soreness, if I recall correctly.

Zambrano added +0.36 to his ERA today... eeek... it now sits at 3.77

110 pitches - but you can't pull a guy throwing a no-no....... tough but good spot.... the Cards are on today.....

Zambrano's velocity is way down today, according to the TV guys and now you wonder if his shoulder's bothering him or he's just having an off day.

This isn't the score I wanted to see coming back from class. Someone offered me tickets to this game too, glad I couldn't go. Oh well.

This is the least I've cared about being down 8 ever. And in fact, I wouldn't put it past this team to win this game.

Too bad Wainwright is a very good pitcher.

What types of pitches doen Marshall have? Because i only see him throwing fastball/changeup so far.

He throws a classic 12-6 curve. Not quite as good as Rich Hill's when they're both on but still a pretty good pitch.

Does anyone know Z's career record v. the Cardinals? I'd like to shut up a friend who keeps texting me about how the Cardinals own Zambrano. I couldn't find anything on baseball reference...

Rest him. Get Koyie and Hank in there. Do it tomorrow too. And the next day if you want.

Umpires miss calls.

Fans on message boards miss many, many more.

How many does K-Zone miss? Or do camera angles affect a computer simulated RULEBOOK strikezone?

What's the margin of error on K-zone? Honestly, I'm asking.

A lot more accurate than umpires.

Soo... you don't know?

To answer your question K-zone is very accurate, in fact it can be to accurate. If the ball crosses the plate and is a strike it will catch it. However sometimes it's just unrealistic for instance on a sinking fast ball the ball is as low as it can get and crosses the very front tip of the plate at the lowest acceptable margin K-zone will call it. As the ball crosses the rest of the plate into the catchers glove it will be way to low and will never be called a strike, but because for the split second at the very front of the plate that pitch was in the zone it would be called a strike and it wouldn't matter if that pitch ended in the dirt. The same scenario can be said for curves and sliders that just barely catch a piece of the plate, those pitches can't be hit and won't be called strikes by the umpires.
