Umpires miss calls.

Fans on message boards miss many, many more.

How many does K-Zone miss? Or do camera angles affect a computer simulated RULEBOOK strikezone?

What's the margin of error on K-zone? Honestly, I'm asking.

A lot more accurate than umpires.

Seriously Z, nice job on the no-no. We all know you have that kind of talent.

But you are the number 3 starter in the playoffs. We just can't trust you enough to have you pitch 2 games in the DS

Hahahaha Z looks like he's about to kill someone. Don't know why Lou doesn't just get him out of there now... This game is ABOUT out of reach.

EDIT: NEVERMIND :)

What seems to be the problem with Z today? Velocity? Location? Just overall poor performance?

Pretty much EVERYTHING...

Velocity was down a bit but his location was HORRIBLE.

I was worried he'd struggle today on normal rest after coming back off the break with a 110 pitch outing.

If he was gonna suck, I'm glad he got knocked around quickly and had a fairly short outing.

So... you enjoyed Baker as a manager? A lot easier to fire a manager than an umpire, too, and that's ignoring the fact that people like you are assuming that the umpires are right, when managers at least have to get wins to stay hired.

Being a manager and being an umpire are two completely different things. You can't compare them since, obviously, there are way more things that go into being a manager than being an umpire.

So why doesn't a defense of "he's a professional" work for managers? It's easier to see when an umpire screwed up. You can even watch it from multiple angles and in slow motion, something that doesn't work for managers and wouldn't help them anyway.

How do you know that umpires aren't getting punished? Look at the NFL. Refs get graded down all the time for making incorrect calls but only the ref in the San Diego-Denver game getting graded down made news.

And I'm sure umpires miss calls sometimes. I'm not arguing that they're perfect. What I am saying is they've got a much, much better grasp of the strike zone than some kid watching on TV posting on the internet.

well, the fact that they're almost never fired for being bad has something to do with my thinking that they're not getting fired for being bad. After spending a few minutes looking around, I've found one story about a guy being fired for umping-related stuff

and he was fired 20 years ago.
