Will Edmonds come back to life in this series?

Hasn't Edmonds been pretty good despite his low BA recently?

An .880 OPS in August and a 1.122 so far in September.

A 653 OPS in the last 14 days.

1167 the last 7.

771 the last 5.

And again, a 1.122 in the past 7. I can do the small sample size thing, too. The guy's production has been declining from his midsummer high, but he's far from a black hole at this point.

Now if he posts a .700 OPS for the entire month of September, then I'll worry. But as long as there is a strict platoon, I don't see it being a serious issue.

I understand, I wasn't trying to say much with that other than, his past month has been a bit of up and down. He's disappeared a couple times, but seems to wake up with a big game now and then. I think the rest is good for him.

I agree.

All the Cubs need to do is go .500 and the Brewers will have to go 14-4 to surpass them.

And if we are just talking about the playoffs although I don't want to see this happen.

If the cubs go 0-19 the Phillies would still have to go 7-11 to pass them. So that is good news but I see the Cubs going 11-8 give or take 1 game. So that would mean the Brewers would have to go.

Cubs

10-9

Brewers would have to go

14-4 to tie us in the division 15-3 to take it from us

If Brewers did that,

Phillies would have to go

17-1 to tie us for the wild card and 18-0 to take the wild card from us

Cubs

11-8

Brewers would have to go

15-3 to tie and 16-2 to take it from us

Phillies would have to win out to tie us for wild card

You get the picture and I think I did the math correctly.

I was just having similar thoughts today. The Cubs are still in great shape, and they will get back on track. The only thing to worry about NOW is the health of Z and Harden.

Looking at this further, 10-9 clinches no worse than a tie for a playoff spot because the Brewers and Phillies have 4 games against each other.

If the Brewers were 14-4 over that time frame, we would tie them for the division.

If the Brewers were 15-3 over that time frame (thus winning the division), the Phillies could finish no better than 17-1 because someone has to lose the 4 games between the Phillies and Brewers.

In other words, 10-9 clinches a playoff spot unless the Brewers and Phillies each win every single game against other teams and the Phillies either sweep or take 3 of 4 from the Brewers.

Per the Sun Times:

Lineup vs. Lohse: sori, font (2B), lee, rami, dero (RF), edmnds, soto, cedno (SS), demp

Theriot's still sick? That's not good.

Edmonds will get HBP for the bat flipping thing last series.

Yeah, probably. I think TLR realizes the Cards are toast. Though he could just get his revenge in a couple of weeks when his team will be for real eliminated.

Good, more of the Ronny Cedeno Experience.

i read somewhere that his floor is higher than Theriot's ceiling

thats odd because we've already seen his floor, and it was the 2006 Experience

and it was worse than anything theriot has ever done

So is Theriots tummy still bothering him? Somethings wrong, or they wouldnt have Cedeno in after Sundays debotchery of a routine play.

As for the Cardinals, LOL at Rick Ankiler starting after he was supposed to be either done for the season or limited to pinch hitting duties. Hopefully he ruptures something. Not as ill will toward Ankiel, just to make HitLarussa look like an arse.
